@chillainous
@chillainous 26 күн бұрын
Won't see it for a while now, at least in video. The way I make the "radio" effect is using some EQ and an *extremely* light distortion. EQ is essentially cutting out all the lows/highs, and boosting the mids around 1khz.

I too found my first flight very stressful. I was nervous because I did not want to make a mistake, but I guess that comes with the pressure to remain professional and to “know” what you’re doing (how to read charts, hold procedures, basic radio phraseology, etc) before you enter VATSIM. The beauty of it is that you get to enjoy a game AND appreciate the level of professionalism both controllers and other pilots in the VATSIM network display to keep things realistic. Keep at it my dude. I know this video’s a year ago but this is great genuine content that I can relate to. I did my first VATSIM flight last month and I do 2-3 a week so at this point it’s really just muscle memory and deciphering their words through radio. 😅
@Soleed
@Soleed Ай бұрын
I also find it very useful to have a paper and pen ready to jot down long instructions from ATC. I have handwritten templates ready to be filled in whenever I schedule a flight.
@chillainous
@chillainous Ай бұрын
It was more stressful since I had been watching people like AFP95, Jeff Favignano who usually fly in the US, the phrasing is a bit different, so when I got around to listening to Australia, I freaked out a bit, and all my practice felt like it was for nothing haha. I still get nervous when reading back PDC, as it breaks up the flow of those speech patterns XD As for the notepad, absolutely agree, I have had a notepad since day1, but since then, I've found ways to cut back the note taking, to take them more concisely, and time effective by also making small templates. For sure it's all muscle memory and speech patterns, and I've gotten a lot better these days. I actually just uploaded another video, which serves as a "One Year Later", it's the most recent video on the channel, if you're interested in checking it out.

hey I know this video is from a while ago but I was wondering what I do if I get handed to unicom mid flight and how to know when and where to call atc?
@chillainous
@chillainous 6 ай бұрын
Heya! If you get handed off to Unicom (122.8), you just need to let people know your actions. So lets say you're doing a flight, Adelaide to Sydney, and you're @ FL370. You would let Unicom know you are Beginning your descent and your arrival fix (example RIVET3). Sydney Traffic, CALLISGN Descending FL370 for the RIVET3 arrival, Sydney. By the time you reach RIVET, if Sydney Approach is online, they will send you a "Contact Me" to your pilot client. If not, call out on Unicom that you are arriving RIVET3, your arrival runway, and a rough time you expect to land at the field. Announce when you are on your final for the runway, and once vacated runway, a final call how you plan to taxi to the gate. Of course, that COULD be paired with tools like VatSpy or Vatprism, so you know if you have to make those calls or not hahaha.

Some notes for you. At 4:43 you refer to Flight level 15. NO. Below the transition altitude (10,000 feet in Australia) altitude is ONLY in feet. Above 11,000 (Flight level 110) altitude is only measured in flight level. At the end you mentioned the hard landing and how "it didn't matter" In this case it did not. But if you are flying a sensitive cargo mission (higher XP) You will fail the mission if the landing is greater than 200 feet per minute. Hotas "phantom" inputs. The X56 does not generate "phantom inputs" What causes that is if YOU have mapped two functions to the same switch. Your fault, not the HOTAS. Finally, the XP in Neofly. You get XP for a successful mission. You get bonus XP for good flight practices (taxi > 30 kts, strobe on while engine is running, landing > 200 FPM) and you get XP based on how long the flight is. One line you skipped over was the XP multiplier. You can do qualification flights that give you a number of stars based on the hardness of your landing. 2 or three stars give you an XP multiplier (higher multipliers for higher levels of aircraft) which is a big bonus for your XP. You also need to complete a qualification flight to one star level in order to fly a more complex (two engine piston is the category B) aircraft in Neofly.

I'm a High IFR pilot, I'm used to saying FL(insert altitude) and it was an honest slip, I even corrected myself IMMEDIATELY after saying it. While I also appreciate your explanation of the Neofly systems, I am aware of how Neofly works, I have an older profile I have been on since July last year. Qualified AECBD. Also used to fly NF3 missions with my Dad a few years ago. As for the HOTAS, your comments are extremely rude. I continuously checked my bindings, and in even messed around with the sensitivity sliders, to create larger deadzones to stop it from happening. It only slightly helped. Once I plugged it in to a USB3 port (which is kind of ridiculous since it's a 2.0 device), it stopped ghosting. I like to think I have a high tolerance of people, but saying it's "my fault" is completely untrue. I've worked around peripherals for a long time, and understand when something is my fault, when it is mechanical, or when it is software. At the end of the day, I am doing KZbin, not to be the most realistic I can be, but for the ENTERTAINMENT of others.
@tonyhorn2954
@tonyhorn2954 8 ай бұрын
I fly with the X56 and NEVER have had a "ghosting" problem. Switches turning off things they are not supposed to is defs a double mapping system and has nothing to do with the X56. And I use the X56 for everything from ultralights to the 747. That's not being rude. That's a fact.

by BFO, I assume you mean FBO? FBO is Fixed Based Operator - Commercial Enterprise given permission to operate at an airfield providing such things as fuel, parking, and in Neoflys case, jobs. As for the EFB, it's Electronic Flight Bag - A device, or devices that show you information about your flight, or can help you calculate basic calculations for aircraft performance, fuel loading etc.

Well hello, welcome to the channel! Doesn't matter if the video is 8 months, or 1day, I'm still reading all the comments XD I still play Neofly in my offtime, however, VATSIM performed much better on the channel, so decided to focus more on that. If I can figure out how to write in the Neofly contents in to Simbrief, might see a mix of the two in the future. Just for you, here's an update on the Neofly profile as it stands: Currently sitting at just below $12million dollars There are currently no outstanding loans, everything is paid I got rid of the Caravan a long time ago, and now OWN a Cessna Citation CJ4 (10million-ish) Have 3 additional pilots, one flying a *RENTED* ATR 72-600(1.7mil initial costs), and have a rented Boeing 787-9 (10million initial) Own 3 FBOs at YPAD, YMML and YSSY (All 40,000 p/week) Have recently been playing the game more like an "idle game" for the last few weeks, but will possibly do a video of Neofly, in the 787-9 or something, maybe revitalise the series. Main reason the series stopped, is as the flights get longer, there's more editing etc. I'm not against bringing it back though. Thanks again for watching, and showing some interest in the Neofly stuff!

you will do great! Everyone starts somewhere, and the community is more than happy to help out, where it can. When you file your flight plan, if using vPilot, there is a REMARKS window, add in there something along the lines of /NEW PILOT or /NEW TO VATSIM. The controllers can read that, and accomodate. If you want any additional help, to some extent, there should be a link to discord, with many knowledgeable VATSIM pilots, and even ATC, who are willing to help out too!

I keep forgetting to turn off seatbelt signs these days, so instead of not being prepared for landing, they now cannot use the bathroom while in cruise XD Thanks though, I appreciate all the pointers!
