Cry For a Shadow is a great tune! Pete Best and his mom were important to the early regional success of the Beatles. Mona booked George, Paul and John for the Casbah at a time they were in a without gigs. Without Pete the Beatles wouldn’t have gotten to Hamburg. He was good for the band.

Every video I’ve seen of him playing he does the exact same basic ass beat and fills and double crashes. He’s awful. But…..a hell of a nice guy.

How humiliating. Stuck in Lima, Peru with no one there doing two songs the Beatles played on in 1961.

Dal Luglio 1962 al dicembre 1970 i Beatles erano: Lennon, mc cartney, Harrison e Ringo Starr, il resto sono solo rimpianti

That's an unusual style. I've seen him do this before, hitting the crash twice, with the kick and then again with the snare.

Met Pete. Even then appeared to have the personality of an ant. Has no stage presence. Looks like he would rather be anywhere else but who he is playing with. Does he need the money that bad he has to play with a band like this ? Maybe No doubt the unluckiest man on earth

Here's what a contemporary drummer of Pete's said when he was asked in an interview what he thought of Pete's drumming: *"He was a genius. You could sit Pete Best on a drum kit and ask him to play for 19 hours and he'd put his head down and do it. He'd drum like a dream with real style and stamina all night long, and that really was The Beatles' sound, forget the guitars. I was amazed when they replaced him. I even thought about learning guitar so he could be the drummer in my band. The Beatles didn't hate Pete Best, but they didn't want to be outshone by their drummer. Ringo was a good drummer but he was more ordinary."* - Chris Curtis, drummer for The Searchers, a great Liverpool band who scored a 1964 Top 3 Hit in the US charts with their classic, "Love Potion # 9". Chris saw Pete Best play many times in both Hamburg and Liverpool during Pete's two years as The Beatles' drummer.

Okay, so the way he is riding that hi-hat is painful. He is hammering straight down on it and it's impossible to keep the "clock" steady like that.
