Stalinism is still just communism but history is funny like that. No idc about "But" shadduuup quit the bullshit and just say the system became corrupt. Its just how Humans are. Weird way to describe the general cycle of a Civilization & Society, but ill ignore it. It did overall pad the video more, but the added context of how that cycle related to Russia made it bearable. You can apply the cycle to ever country if you know what it is though.

Some issues with the depiction of Russian especially in post revolution but also prior to it is a buy in into great man theory behind the political decisions. The bolsheviks practice democratic centralism which meant diversity of opinion internally and unity of action externally. It's the same system for example used by the the federal council in Switzerland. The outcome is that you never know who descented and who didn't. Attributing it all to Stalin who was simply the face of a larger group of people at the top is a mistake done too often by old historians that gets unconsciously perpetuated to this day. Truth is even the Americans in briefings behind closed doors called this mistake foolish and that one has to consider the Soviet government as a larger democratic force simply with Stalin at the head. The voices destinctions between Lenin and Stalin are also misleading cause they were not as destinctions ideologically than they were distinct in the time they were acting in. Both were prolific writers and we know their believes. The NEP was understood by both to be a necessary compromise to develop the at the time still semi feudal region and both understood it's limitations and risks and that it was to be something as short lived as possible. Both also wrote against "rightists" who wanted to eternally perpetuated capitalist relations in production. The goal of both was socialism after all and the NEP was anything but. On the national question they also only were slightly distinct. Hell Stalin was Georgian calling him a Russian chauvinist would take a bunch of extra steps. Truth is both sought internationalism in the context of a nationalist world which implied focusing on the cooperation between people but that does not mean that maintaining the diverse nationalisms was a goal. Again both writers wrote constantly against nationalism not just against great nations but in general, self determination was simply understood as a necessity cause the nation's can only be abolished if we all come together willingly. This ofcs does not mean Russian chauvinism was not a thing in the SU in fact it was and something both writers wrote against it. They simply were not these omnipotent forces we often portray them as in casual conversation. The NEP was always going to be abolished and collectivization was always going to happen. It is true there were economic consequences like the great famine but modern historians aren't even sure anymore to what extent the policies played a role given the severity of the drought in an area that had historically been plagued by famine every couple years. In fact the great famine was basically the last one of it's kind as the planned economic system basically took a nation of wooden ploughs to be number 2 on the world as a whole. The holodomor is also something that is heavily disputed as some conscious attempt at anything given that there is nothing to back that position. On the contrary there were relief efforts at play and the Soviets even asked to halt grain shipments to the UK which was denied. The hole framing is propagandistic in nature and beinng reorganized given even after the opening of the Soviet secret archives no smocking gun or anything the like ever came forth to back such claims. Hell in the late 80s when the referemdum for the dissolution of the soviet union came up the Ukrainian SSR had the lowest amount of people in support of maintaining the union but even they had a decisive majority in support of maintaining the SU. The historical narrative of some attempt at perpetuating the tsarist policy towards other nations just isn't backed by anything other than people saying that was the case. It would require internal documentation to back such claims that didn't come up. Beyond these points it's an interesting video but perpetuating heavily contested history written during the cold war when no access to the other side was present as what did in fact happen is very faulty history communication.

I grew up with anime and Japanese culture outside Japan. I've long been trying to put together thoughts on how anime specifically affected different diaspora groups and created community. But as I began to take a more specific and critical look at anime and it's cultural impact in the West I kept seeing patterns and rather alarming trends I associated with my studies of war and geopolitics post WW2. But I couldn't quite out any of my thoughts together. All of that is to say is this essay is everything I could have hoped to find and more, thank you so much for this! And it goes without saying but definitely liked, subbed, notifications on and all that. Absolutely amazing work, thank you ❤

I guess Trump must’ve taken some serious inspiration from Fallout when crafting his presidential agenda. First, ramping up tensions with China, then flirting with the idea of annexing Canada and Mexico-what’s next? Building Vaults and whipping up the FEV virus? Buckle up, folks… Welcome to Fallout. At this point, he might as well hire Todd Howard as a consultant!

Yooo spookston clip nice. Fantastic video moony, and I think you both got me to learn a bit about Russian history and the much more important lesson on the state of the game which and its balance. The idea of a trifecta of propaganda influencing realistic game design decisions hadn’t fully occurred to me but laying it out brought it all together.
