@bznelson912 ай бұрын
How much does the design depend on the vibrations of the grinder while operating? I ask, because as a current Lagom P64 and former DF64 Gen 2 owner, the P64 is very stable compared to the DF64, but then again, maybe a little is all that's needed.
@dubios422 ай бұрын
The vibration is negligible. More important is the fixing of the grinding disk in the middle (screw), as this is used to transport the beans. This is flattened on the P64. This could possibly be the biggest challenge.

Do you recommend cold starting it? I've had i bit of trouble finding the right speed, as it's either a little fast or stalling. But I always grind witg a hot start, idk if that might be the issue.
@dubios422 ай бұрын
First of all, thanks for your feedback! I tried a hot start with the DF64P version this morning. That worked without any problems, but I also poured everything in at once and the Grind Finer! was already dialed in for this beans. If you pour the beans in slowly at the top, it will probably go faster than normal, as there is less pressure from above and therefore less "jamming". My tip is to try the setting where it jams and then just gradually turn it upwards (only the fine adjustment with the numbers), then you should find the setting that looks like in the video. I hope this helps you.

This 3D model has the most convoluted and unnecessarily complicated description ever. Why wouldn't you settle for a few basics instead of endless variants and versions with no apparent purpose or reason?
@dubios423 ай бұрын
I'm a fan of detailed descriptions, so that's what I do, and anyone who knows their way around can just start printing. There aren't actually different variants of the shaker, just for different portafilter sizes and that makes a lot of sense here to work well with every portafilter size. Sure, there are different variants for the bolts, but the first variant is the one I recommend and that's what I've written. The others fulfill other requirements and that is also stated. Hope this helps.

Most of the espresso shots are a little watery for demonstration reasons (vibration is more visible and old supermarket beans were used - on my channel you can find videos with super satisfying shots if that's the only reason you're here :D). Also, a shot with more crema can be seen at the end. I will also make a follow-up video as soon as I have more experience of how exactly to use the Sonic Waver. (Vibration time, moving the waver back and forth in the cup, etc.) The Kaffeemacher:innen state 3 seconds for their method with the vibrating plate. The idea with the toothbrush was posted by @czh2504 under one of the Kaffeemacher videos. However, my friend came up with the same idea independently. very interesting thanks for sharing. out of curiosity, what roast were the beans? also, with your worklflow of pre-heating etc, what temp do you think you can achieve during extraction?
@dubios425 ай бұрын
Thanks! Ngororeo - Ruanda Espresso, washed, medium-dark, roaster: 19grams (Berlin). It's a very tasty, berry roast. That's a good question. I think the biggest problem with the Fair Pro 2 is the temperature control. I usually make everything as hot as I can and should be between 91-94 degrees Celsius when brewing. So far I've only measured this once. The temperature strip on the outside is pretty useless here, but you can tell quite well from it when the brewing chamber is preheated well enough. (Maybe I'll just make a video about the Flair in the future and talk about my experiences)

Super cool! I did see instructions on the Printables page to make the print as food safe as possible, but I am still not sure if it will be. I am also not sure if a bi-metal heatbreak is safe, and I still can't find a stainless steel nozzle for my Spider hotend...
@dubios425 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yes, I actually have an extra stainless steel nozzle that I use exclusively for food-safe filaments - can't help you with the spider printer. Since I also sell the shaker, I've looked into the subject in depth and can say that, maybe it will help you: The main problem with 3D printing is the small grooves between the individual print layers, where bacteria can accumulate more easily. But since we're talking about coffee here and not slightly putrefying food, this should hardly be a problem, even if you don't sand the shaker (otherwise you would also have enormous problems with the coffee grinders themselves, as they also have places that you can't really get clean). Of course, you can remove most of these grooves by sanding them down if you are still worried. You could also apply a food-safe coating. On the versions I sell, I apply such a coating, which closes the very last gaps and also serves as a non-stick coating (foodsafe Diamant dichtol AMS, but is quite expensive). Maybe I will make a video about this. Alternatively, you can of course also use epoxy resin, but this is no longer food-safe if it breaks. To summarize: Personally, I don't see a problem with ground coffee as long as you use food-grade filament and a suitable print nozzle. If the shaker was for milk or something similar, it would of course be a different story. But in the end, you have to decide for yourself :) Edit: I have just watched the video by Slant 3D, he briefly discusses the print nozzle and food safety topic, maybe that will help you too: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnKqlGd9gKmYpbcsi=bDUpFiykWRoudKbV&t=1618
