Hand to hand and drain fatigue effects are pretty powerful. Pair it with a strong weapon after stun and the hits you land are guaranteed to do more damage It's super useful against a few npcs in full cladded ebony armor, minus Gaenor of course (700 luck is busted).

Morrowind is such an unbalanced game that it doesn't really matter which weapon type you choose, unless you're doing a challenge run and purposefully avoiding exploits and overpowered stuff. Just pick whichever weapon type you think is the coolest.

It's totally fine if know what you're doing. leveling up non-major skill to get bonus to needed attribute and then leveling up alchemy to get to next level is a nice strategy (be it 5-5-1 or 5-5-5). It takes self-control to play this way and I understand if someone would label it as "grinding".

There are about three metrics about weapon types. 1) How common it is 2) How good the Artifacts are (spoilers) The things like damage per hit doesn't really matter as DPS is pretty close, and its not like 10% damage difference would be that big of a deal in morrowind anyway. Two most popular and probably the best weapon skills are Long Blade and Short Blade. Countary to what people may think at first, Long Blade actually includes both two-handed and one-handed weapons which is great for variety - and it has the most Artifacts, playing blind first playthrough with rarer weapon type could be frustrating since vast majority of the artifacts wont fit you, which isn't a problem for Long Blade. Short Blade on the other hand has only one-handed weapons and have some range and attack speed negative changes when compared to Long Blade, but it has the most common magical weapons and are way lighter - which makes them great backup or enchant juggling weapons for either applying multiple over time effects or just to let charges regenerate naturally as you switch weapons. It also has great artifact. Shields are great as they block 10% of melee attacks at minimum, grant bonus armor and are an extra powerful enchant slot, and since Morrowind doesn't have dual-wielding, all one-handed weapons could be supplemented with shields, possibly a shield with a constant strength effect that would boost their damage (and increase carry weight so the heavy shield doesn't weigh you down that much). Two other notable weapon skills are blunt, due to you-know-which artifact being a thing, and because Ebony Staff for some reason has the highest enchantability out of all weapons in the game (even bigger than Daedric Staffs), which also makes it great for things like on-hit enchants or enchant juggling - and it has a lot of weapon type variety too. Axe includes both 1h and 2h weapons but arent neither common, don't have a lot of magical weapons nor artifacts, don't have exceptional artifacts and not have much identity other than "a tiny big bigger damage and longer swings". Spears are pretty cool with the range, but have very moderate damage and are all two-handed meaning no shields. Marksman is painful and so is Hand to Hand. One thing that no-one mentioned in the comments is how all weapons skill-up based on numbers of attacks that hit the target, meaning that Short Blade will level the fastest and things like 2 hand Axes the slowest -- not that it is a big deal since weapons skills level really fast (especially if you play on higher difficulties with enemies having more hp).

I always go short blade, get the demon dagger from Ra'Virr and use that until i can enchant a ring with bound dagger. 0.1 weight for all weapons is pretty good. Damage is more than enough to trivialize the game.

If you can reach 100% magicka immunity and 100% immunity in one element (and also 110 enchanting) for me the best weapon is the ebony staff with: Weakness magicka 100 Weakness fire (or the elemnt you are immune to) 100 Fire damage 100 damage You are immune to the damage being reflected and the damage is so big. Wekaness to magicka 100 makes fire weakness double as strong so the enemy is not 200% weaker to fire. 100 fire damage against a 200% weak enemy is 300 damage. Of course this is if the enemy has 0% magicka and fire weakness. Since there are no enemy with 100% magicka resistance you will always deal damage. Also nord start with 100% forst immunity you only need 100% magicka resistance.
@alienplatypus771220 сағат бұрын
Or you could just enchant it with absorb health and fatigue 100 and not bother with any of that resistance stuff since reflecting those effects won't hurt you, and still more than enough to steamroll anything not magic immune.

HtH dmage scales only by raising skill itself, so it has a very limited use. You can knock out people with HtH, but you should have another source of damage too. I'd say HtH masters are dangerous to the player, as they can stunlock your arse (it's especially dangerous to low level characters).

Axe skill synergies very well with Conjuration. Deadric Battle Axe is normally one of the heaviest weapons in the game, requiring a lot of strength to carry and fatigue to swing. But since bound weapons don't have weight, you can have a high damaging weapon with little to no downside
@silverjohn6037Күн бұрын
You did a good job covering the skills but didn't give Bound weapons the attention they deserve. Daedric damage, plus 10 to their skill and come fully repaired every time you summon them. The only real downside is you can't enchant them with extra effects but you really shouldn't need more with the damage they can do. The khajit merchant in Balmora sells a cheap Tanto and Spear that also let you summon their Bound versions for sixty seconds and a more expensive one for swords. That said, if you make an enchanted item yourself, you can summon a bound weapon for 19 seconds (not many fights will last longer than that) for only one point of charge and that point will regenerate before the summon effect wears off so you can even use a rat or mud crab petty soul to make it.

Many will go after me for saying this, but custom monk classes are the one thing truly keeping Morrowind together. Add H2H with magic and name the spells you make into special "monk attacks," like naming a paralysis spell 'Stunning Strike'. If fighting multiple enemies, drain their stamina, and soon you'll be playing Whack-A-Mole to knock them down again and again. Add darts to the mix just to tick everyone off for good measure. Anyone who can say they beat a god to death with nothing but their bare hands is a certified badass. Who doesn't love fisting their opponents?

Pretty sure Short blades have the 2 highest dps weapons in the game with an enchanted daedric wakizashi at #1 and the fang of haynekhtnamet at #2 and you still get the stunlocks on top of the dps. If you get enchant to 110, each attack only uses 1 charge so that becomes negligable, only other weapons that might edge out in dps is ebony staff spam but idk about that.
@alienplatypus771220 сағат бұрын
An enchanted ebony staff should completely blow everything else out of the water, since it has an utterly insane enchant value at 90. It's pretty terrible if you don't enchant it of course.

Seems like the wakizashi can get near it if you hit perfect timing with weapon drawbacks. At least the daedric wakizashi is the highest ttk non bugged weapon in the game lol (You cant tell me that everyother ebony weapon has worse enchant than the daedric counterpart other than these 2 not to mention the exact same thing of adding an extra zero happening to the bonemold bow and no shot giving that 40 enchant is intentional. Aditionally giving the player dlc weapons better than the dlc artifacts is stupid lol, mace of aevar and spear of the hunter are the best in their category so idk why they make the ebony scimitar better than trueflame and hopesfire unless it was a mistake )

H2H is a good option for your character if you dumped Strength (assuming you're using vanilla H2H rules) since its damage is based purely upon skill level, though it is still advisable to pull out a 'real' weapon once they can't fight back. Sneak attacks obviously will also ramp up your damage, and H2H makes it easy to stand behind them (though it can be difficult to tell exactly where 'behind' them is when they're laying sideways)

I use a spear until my endurance is 100 then I use whatever weapon I actually specialized in. Or conversely just use a conjured weapon cause the +10 makes up for the lack of skill early game as long as you manage your stamina.

Hand is more of a self defense tool, as enemies with no fatigue are next to useless. Pairing Hand to Hand with a weapon skill or offensive magic is a good call. Also, you can combo hand to hand with damage/absorb fatigue. You can even get it into negatives preventing enemy from getting up entirely. Also, nice comment bait. Bravo.
@SkyBlueFox1Күн бұрын
Hand-to-Hand is definitely not for beginners, but for those who're more experienced with the game, I think it can actually be a lot of fun to use. OpenMW does admittedly add the "Strength affects H2H damage" option, but even in vanilla, it feels very neat. I ran a Scoundrel character last year, with H2H/Marksman and the Lover birthsign (SRAB tweaks it to be half as effective/only drain 100 fatigue), and the whole build worked surprisingly well - as long as I made sure to properly prepare myself. Since Paralyzed enemies count as being "knocked down", it bypasses the need to empty the fatigue bar, so you can just use Lover's Kiss, down a restorative, and go to town. It also pairs really well with the paralyze Short Blades - jab an enemy once with the knife, then start throwing hands to preserve the enchant charge.
@MajkaSrajka17 сағат бұрын
Strength affecting H2H damage is small boon, as IIRC difference from base 50 STR and 100 STR is an extra 50% damage. I don't see H2H being saved by having only 50% more damage.
@froztrollbruКүн бұрын
If you can damage your opponents strength, endurance, agility, and willpower to 0, one punch will knock out your opponent permanently. You could also paralyze an opponent then punch them to simply do direct damage to health. And if you want to do a good hand-to-hand build, imperial is the best race with the Star of the West ability, further more any spell or enchantment that damages or absorbs fatigue help significantly with downing opponents faster. You could also eventually get a fortify skill spell from tribunal or Bloodmoon to fortify hand-to-hand to deal more fatigue damage with each punch.
@TKsh1Күн бұрын
Long Blade. Great damage, decent swing speed, is the most common weapon type you can find, scales well from early to end game, and most unique weapons are from this category (and very powerful as well). My personal favorite is Short Blade because I like daggers, always play mage characters and enchantments make them really good, too bad the endgame damage is quite low.

Marksman is the best late game because infinitely farmable Dwarven Darts. Overall though the best skill is probably Blunt since it's a compilation of every other skill. Staves have Spear Range + Near Dagger Speed making them insane at stunlocking, and the highest enchant weapon in the game. Warhammers are only very slightly weaker than Battleaxes but sport 1.5 range instead of 1 (spears are 1.8) Goblin Clubs are pretty overpowered as far as generic enchantable gear goes. And Sunder and Aevar's are arguably the 2 strongest artifact weapons in the game.

Hand to hands has some good mod to make it more viable for damaging health like: Using the gauntlet armor rating as base damage Using Strength to increase the damage (openMw or Morrowind code patch) Enchanting gloves to have on hit effect like weapons do That being said I always read that you should spam click against enemy that have fatigue and do charged attack against those that are downed. I looked up the formula in the wiki and I can't find anything about the minimum damage, only the maximum damage if charged (that is like 7.5 health damage if you have 100 hand to hand)
