The Japanese suffix Chan refers to unmarried women The last name Chan refers to being related to acclaimed Martial Artist and actor Jackie Chan. Choose carefully.

I still can't believe that I got the mudcrab merchant to follow me ALL the way back to Balmora so I could have him in a more convenient location. It didn't work out so well, since he glitched into a staircase and eventually vanished.

My personal annoyance with the creature merchants was not just that they offer amazing deals, even for characters with no mercantile, but that there are very few other merchants with even slightly comparable amounts of gold. I personally use a mod which increases the gold held by all merchants except the creature merchants by x10 (including modded merchants) and reduces the creature merchants to have like, 100 gold each. It gives me an incentive to actually level up my mercantile but doesn't leave me selling a glass sword for 1/10th of its value simply because not a single merchant in all of Morrowind can afford it.

Well, there's Mournhold merchants but I guess that's too out of the way most of the time.
@quartzmech5661Сағат бұрын
@@Imperatia Doing that also has the same breaking the normal cycle of gameplay problem as the creature merchants do: I prefer to be able to just go to a local merchant rather than having to teleport to the one person who might be able to afford something.

I dig it. Prioritizing gameplay and enjoyment over results. At the end of the day, it’s all funny money in a fictional world.

this doesnt even require creature merchants or mercantile levels illusion's charm spells to use on vendors are sufficient, or you can just play as an imperial and use the daily power a believable economy was never a strength of elder scrolls anyway
@fulvio32116 сағат бұрын
Also with a mercantile higher than the merchant's level you basically can sell to them something at higher value and then buy it back at lower price. There are many merchant with just 10 in mercantile. Just having it as a minor skill makes you better than them at being a merchant. Basically if you join the mages guild in Balmora and do the first quests Ajira will be at 100 disposition. With just 15 mercantile you can now sell her anything at a little % more, then buy it back for a little % less. You could continue for infinite money, but also you can continue to train more mercantile. Remember that mercantile XP is based on % increase(or decrease). If you get 1 gold discount on a 10 gp item you have xp for a 10% discount If you get 100 gold discount on a 10.000 transaction it's just a 1% discount, so you get less XP

Some mod in an OpenMW mod list I've been using straight up removes them which was a nice surprise. It's too easy to use certain things in morrowind as a crutch so it's good to find you just cannot use them at all even if you think its going to save time merchant shuffling with a high disposition merchant
@monsieurdorgat68645 сағат бұрын
I think my preference is just to make them less abusable. Still a pretty fun addition though - it would be a shame to completely lose them. Maybe one fix would be to give them more money but have it never refresh. So it's a fun find and use a few times but not forever. And also, how are they going to refresh their supply of drakes?

@@monsieurdorgat6864 i've always had an idea for creeper/mudcrab, but i don't mod and don't know if it would be possible but it'd be a cool balance feature if you couldn't buy back items from them, like if you sold your expensive glass weapon to them their shop inventory would just delete it immediately, keeping you from waiting a day for their gold to refresh and shuffling items around to get even more money they'd still be really good merchants, but reserving the shuffle to only be for humanoid npcs would make mercantile skill more valuable
@monsieurdorgat68643 сағат бұрын
@@pacothemajestic That would be a good compromise too.

For me, it’s moreso that loot after a certain quality simply becomes too expensive for any merchants to buy unless you mod every single merchant to have more gold which is a different kind of tedium all on its own. I simply sell loot to regular merchants until I need to sell something that none of them will be able to buy at thats close enough to their value. My visits to Creeper are rare because I don’t need to sit there and wait for the gold to reset, I just come back every now and then. The real exploit is getting the SUPPLY of things to sell to them that allows for the ridiculous stuff to happen. Caldera is an annoying place to try to backtrack to and I’d rather use my Mark for better places.

I eventually stopped using these merchants due to it becoming cheap and uninteresting. What I find more fun is getting some high value items, then trying to figure out how to get the maximum liquid capital out of it. This usually involved going to a merchant and selling the High Valued items and using the additional credit to buy additional stock to sell off. "Enchanters are overpowered in more ways then one."
@yxa-b9r6 сағат бұрын
im thinking of adding creeper only as a quest from sheogorath in my mod, and mudcrab could be somewhere very far or deleted, its such a hassle to go to the crab either way..

Last playthrough I've decided to not use creature merchants at all, because I've always seen them as more of an easter egg than a game mechanic you're supposed to be actively using. Amusingly enough I've also been playing as a personality-centric build and at some point when your stats are high enough, NPC-s are actually buying your stuff for more than it's worth and selling it for less than it's worth, making them better than creatures.

One of my fav exploits in Morrowind is decent lvl Mercantile - by an Iron Dagger, and then through few exchanges of buy'n'sell get whole merchants gold. Its tedious but hilarious at the same time.

Creature merchants take pretty much all the fun out of morrowind. You sell some daedric gear, wait 24 hours, sell more, buy training in such a way all your attributes are raised to 100 plus in no time. All your skills are at 100 in no time. You're level 30 plus. Nothing in the game can challenge you even on max difficulty. I know this is a me problem but it's such an unfun way to play.

Somewhat disagree, but mostly because going to Mournhold for a trader with a comparable gold pool is even more out of the way than going to Caldera for me. Unless I already owned 5-digit septims, I'd still try to sell off items with high base price to the Creeper since most merchants aren't able to afford those.
