If you cut out the beginning of Evil Dead 2 in which they summarize and rehash the beginning of the film, and pick up with Ash running through the woods away from the Evil, the story continues from the first one fairly well. Yes the story becomes more slapstick, but if you see the movies as being from his perspective, his sanity is slipping, so it would get less serious.

The fact that Sam and Bruce love the Three Stogies really shows in this film. It was a lot more OTT, and yet it still worked. I have seen three versions of this. The third one had some of the more "silly" bits trimmed down. It was on a VHS and looked like it was a copy of a copy kind of thing. At a guess, one was done for certain territories, they tried to make it more serious after early feedback? I've never seen it since. The TV show was not bad (some episodes were very good). Bruce was still great, but it was like 10 years too late.
@thehauntedvalley2 ай бұрын
I'd like to see the VHS version without the silly parts! Let me know if you ever run across it. :)

@@thehauntedvalley This was long ago. A group of us saw a "not so legit" copy of Army Of (the old terrible-quality ones), and then a few months later, one lad had a better-quality version. When we watched it, it had some of the "slapstick" parts trimmed-just a few seconds here and there. Never seen it since. My only guess is that in some countries, they did a quick edit that leaned away from the comedy side a bit. Maybe early feedback was that it was too silly in parts. I did not mind it and still don't, but I can see how some people going to see an "Evil Dead" film would be "Huh?"

I'd choose the overlook. A lot more places to hide. 5:10 Machette. Chainsaws are clumbersome. I believe you'd do better with a machette because you're small and slender looking. I'd face Damien, although Gage could be killed again (very sad at the end of the movie and novel ) I have doubts Damien could be stopped as he seems to have supernatural protections. Being dropped into a novel could really suck because some stories take hours and hours to read. That' a long time to try and survive. Michael's mask by far. I dont want that stinky warped human skin mask on at all. Question,,, would you rather face Freddy or Jason or Michael in a killing mood? I believe the one I'd rather face the least would be Freddy because he seems more prone to torturing and prolonging the action, although he might goof off too long and I might wake up in time to save myself.. Michael's my favorite, but Freddy might be worse to face. Happy Halloween to you.

1. Overlook - love the decor (movie) 2. Chainsaw - more exciting (especially if being chased in the Overlook hedge maze). 3. Gage Creed - He's adorable, even if he's slashing my throat. 4. unknown 5. unknown 6. Book - seems more people have a chance in a book whereas a movie most of the time only one or two survive. 7. Jaws - I like sharks better too. 8. Mike Myers mask - yeah the skin sounds unpleasant. 9. Chucky because he's both adorable and witty. Question: who would you rather deal with and try to survive: Freddy Crouger or IT?

Funny character- uncle Red from Silver Bullet. Tv Series- Nightstalker 1970s Impalement- agree, The Omen. Song theme- Halloween, good one. Parts of the Shining. Like the intro. 1979 Salems Lot. Mike Ryerson at Danny Glick's grave. Favorite Jason- part 3. Beheading- agree, The Omen. Arnie the drunk at the begining of Silver Bullet. Grade B movie- agree about Jessica. Tv Movie 1972 Nightstalker or Jack palace as Dracula. Many good tv horror movies.

I'm with you regards fiction about aliens; they're not my cup of tea either, but I guess it's how the subject is approached and tackled, because this book worked for me. I don't think everything in it is successful, but overall this was classic King: I loved the sense of dread as the alien influence slowly and insidiously seeped into the town, and the immersive world King created in the narrative. I wish he still wrote these more detailed characters, backdrops and histories still - I'm a sucker for them, every time, haha.

I never thought about merging The Evil Dead with Evil Dead 2 as they're two different styles of horror. The first one is serious and then other is more comedic. The remake is just as serious as the first one though the tone is more darker.
@thehauntedvalley2 ай бұрын
Which is your favorite, Monty?
@standbyforsummarycombustion2 ай бұрын
The Original Evil Dead is just the Greatest 80's Grindhouse film ever made. Evil Dead 2 is a great sequel, but like a Remake/Sequel. I can accept the transition from Evil Dead to Evil Dead 2, but I hate the transition from E D 2 to Army of Darkness, they go from "Hail Hail Hail" to "my name's Ash and I'm a Slave!" The Original us my favorite, I love 2, but I feel they took the slapstick too far with Army of Darkness, it's like We are almost not even in the same Franchise anymore. I wish it was Darker, but still a great movie. Awesome video!😀
@thehauntedvalley2 ай бұрын
That is such a strange transition. Why do you think they changed it? Do you think they were going for a darker tone originally and then decided to make it screwball slapsticky by the time they made Army of Darkness?

Apologies if you already knew this, but Bruce Campbell said that if you stop the first movie right when the camera zooms in on him and cut to the second movie at a similar moment, that's the truest cut of the film. So you were on the right track of combining them for a better film.
