If we had all the money we sent the Ukraine through the Biden administration the people leading our country are supposedly really. They’re the ones destroying it but if we had that money think of the wall you could’ve built with that in the billions just laying down just smooth as Cell could’ve build a ride up had a fortress wall, we sent that shit over there so the crooked fuckers over there could buy new yachts and take them to the south of France

It's due to a cold-start, combined with the pumps being direct-drive (Always engaged). They emit that black smoke until the turbo boost comes up so they burn more effeciently.

Appreciate this being made available... can’t help but wonder about our ability to confidently predict the economic uplift/benefit from said diversion considering the massive amounts of funding we are talking about here... do we have any performance tracking/lookbacks on previous diversions (natural and/or man made)? Certainly need to find a way to hinder the amount of land loss but without a coastal-wide approach, the only areas that will benefit from diversions are those in the immediate vicinity of the river

Great video. Man it took me back to some good times. I came on after the cofferdam was installed and worked the sector gates section for Traylor Brothers. I was a rigger and unhooked the first gate when the stiff leg crain set it in. There all the way until the hole was flooded and gates operational. Great job site with great people.

Why in the hell would any civilization build where it will flood and destroy everything? Even the Indians that inhabited the land before us knew better. And why would anyone expect others to pay for this doomed to flood city?
@usacenola

+David C (Deeked) The city of New Orleans is close to 300 years old. The French established the city on a natural high ground, but as time passed the city grew. Today the city is of vital importance to the nation's shipping and navigation industry, as well as the economy. Of the world's 15 busiest ports four are south of Baton Rouge.
@Deeked

+teamneworleans natural high ground. like i said, the natives were smart enough not to build there. even if it was 5 feet above sea level, it is still guaranteed to flood.

David C You should ask the people who live in Arizona, Alaska, ,Canada, why they built there. Yes, New Orleans floods, so does Houston, TX. Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico, are desert, and don't have enough water. Our northern states, and much of Canada, have brutal winters. Should people live there, too?

Just like why in the hell do people build in the midwest like Oklahoma City and Dallas and Little Rock where they have massive tornadoes? Why in the hell do people build on the west coast like LA and San Francisco where they are sitting on a major fault? Why in the hell did people build on Manhattan, KNOW that a hurricane will like blow through and flood the whole city. Why in the hell do humans live on this earth PERIOD, knowing that at some point in time of their short lifetimes, there will be some kind of natural disaster that will cause certain damage, death, and destruction? I guarantee that the answer that you are thinking about right now that you believe justifies YOUR place of residence works is the same freaking answer that the people of New Orleans is thinking. There is NO such thing of a place that is 100% safe from mother nature.

I absolutely agree. If housing and businesses are vulnerable then at least build structures on legs so that water cannot reach them. In the UK they're being allowed to build on flood plains and most mortgage lenders won't provide a loan to buy those houses.
