It wouldn't make much sense to be adopting a mourning practice when you're giving people something to celebrate. It conflicts with being and delivering Good News. And then in terms of good news for the poor in particular - they were already hungry, "food insecure" in the euphemism of the moment. They don't need telling off for eating, and they don't need reminding to go without. The good news of the arrival of the year of the LORD, the Jubilee, is something for poor people to celebrate, and the transfer of wealth with which they can celebrate. So it all ties together, not just because on that day they had Jesus with them while later they wouldn't, but also because the self-punishing practice of the Pharisees was against the joy of Messiah's coming, and Jesus' mission, and not required of those he was proclaiming good news to, whose poverty was in itself all the fasting anyone could owe.

Hiya. I've recently became aware of God's Squad cmc. I live in essex, England. I'm Christian and motorcyclists.. I've been researching into God's Squad and just recently read the book " God's biker" by Sean Stillman... Your club's mission is very appealing to me.. I appreciate what it takes to prospect and eventually become a member. Unfortunately I am unable to give that commitment at this moment. Due to other family commitments. But hopefully in near future I may be in position to have time to give commitment to be a hanger on. God willing that won't be long. For now , I will continue to follow you guys here and keep you all in my prayers. God bless you all in GSCMC. Amen .
