Mark Part 30, Mark 7:31-37 ‘Healings continue on the Road’ (Dave Fuller)
This week Dave Fuller, our God’s Squad Melbourne Chapter President, continues our journey through Mark’s Gospel where we find Jesus continue to travel in gentile regions, places that would have had the potential to provoke some hostility. Despite wanting to appear to operate in fairly low key manner, Jesus’ reputation has gone before him, as people bring their sick to him for healing.
Dave comments, “Christian mission will often be called to operate in difficult places. Places that have a history of suspicion, racism or hostility. Places that for all manner of reason are hostile to Christians. Sadly, we as the people of God in Christ have contributed to that atmosphere through our links to colonisation movements and rapacious land grabs. Part of our task in mission going forward is the work of justice making in works of reparation, healing and restitution.”
Dave Fuller is President of GSCMC Melbourne Chapter and also serves as an inner city Anglican Priest in Melbourne, Australia.
