That RB100 sounds really old school. Something to get those early 1900's tones 👌🏿

With a small diaphragm condenser set up behind the fiddle, in line with the instrument's side and 12-15 inches away. There's a warmer sound there, with much reduced scratches and squeaks - fiddlers really like that!
@tboneaudio12 күн бұрын
We liked the scratches 🥰 But of course there are so many possibilities in music and you can do things in a lot of different ways, according to taste :) We really appreciate when you share your opinions and feedback! So much inspiration!
@GavinAtkin12 күн бұрын
@tboneaudio You might... But with their ears so close to the scratching and squeaking action, fiddlers tend to be very uptight about that aspect of their playing. I'm not immune to this myself!

The SC-1100 is like the U87 of t.Bone. You can record anything with it, and it will always sound great. (You could say I like it - A LOT 😊) For acoustics I would also consider a tube (the SCT-2000 comes to mind) with slighly more colouring or a ribbon (I love that RB-500) for a warmer more natural sound. This will also put less emphasis on the string sounds. I think the MB 75 beta would also be a good candidate for acoustic guitar, focusing more on the body of the guitar sound and less on the high end. Of course, it all depends on the sound you're trying to create.

I often use the MB75 for live purpose for drums / vocals or even upright bass to get more of the "wood" sound, paired with a DI for the lows. Although I do believe this mic is a good choice for a saxophone. I don't think these mics are good for a saxophone recording session, or maybe at a higher energy / sound level ? It lack body and warmth right now in my opinion I'd love to be able to try these microphones though !

Thank you for the ressources ! I love these videos :) I had a question about the room you made for the bass, is it the same settings / vst as the drum's so it feels like it was played in the same space, or did you chose another one ?
@tboneaudioАй бұрын
Hey :) The bass guitar sent to its own individual room, which was a bit shorter in decay and substantially less wide than the one used on drums. The basic idea was to give the bass a bit more width than mono while still keeping the sides mostly clean, having it sit "inside" the drum kit.

@tboneaudio thanks, I figured out that they only fit the main trx unit, (and not the external mic, which is ultimately what I need it for).

He opens a lot of tools but doesn't explain them. Also you should let us hear 10 seconds of the raw track and then 10 seconds of the finished product to appreciate the differences. Ironically, the video has not been scripted edited and mixed properly. 🤷🏻♂️

The Ovid cc100 is working shockingly well... this when contrasted to its price and the other applications where I also use it! I am using this on acoustic guitar , saxophone and other stuff (Live and in the studio)! I have it run as a remote microphone on a Rode-link. Thanks for this mic system!

Hi. What's your feed back on using it on an acoustic guitar for live performance? You hqve any videos?
@nightcircuitband52813 ай бұрын
@wawa05forjesus I use it on sax live. The frequency response range is good. Feedback probles are manageable. It picks up guitar juat fine. The lows appear to go down to 20Hz, getting the really important bass rumble out of an acoustic guitar. Go get one. I got the one with a detachable cable. Everything is doing its job. I do not have any specific recordings online I can point to, which offer a good demo of this. Sorry. For a "cheap" mic, it is actually really good. The clips are a bonus. I have it clipped on my sax's bell-body brace with a violin clamp-mount. They make a guitar clamping mount for it also. Let me know what you wind up doing..

I really love t.Bone microphones but both the MB20 and the MB7 Beta are crap... compare that to the BC500 which is like 50 times better than the MB7 beta and the MB20 combined. I would not recommend these two to anyone. The BC500 is only slightly below the sE DynaCaster DCM8 and the Shure SM7B. On my voice I like the sE the best, but I have never had any of these three microphones fail on any voice. I do MacGyver a t.Bone YGM 180 over the included pop filter. The BC500 is a great microphone for audio and video podcasts IMHO, while the MB7 and MB20 are just expensive thin sounding paper weights...

Impressive indeed! I just received them and tested them against others between the same price range and 5 times the price, by Superlux, AKG, Sennheiser and Beyerdynamic. They sound quite similar to the DT 770 Pro and feel great as well, and they smoke the competition even when it's 2 or 3 times the price! AKG K-361 and Sennheiser HD 280 Pro are on par but sound and feel different. My top recommendation for anyone who can't afford a DT 770 Pro but wants something similar. They look really nice but the branding is a bit over the top for my taste. A little more room for the ears would have been nice, and I wish the headband was replaceable as well.
