I wonder if the voltron 2 plan was the inspiration for lion voltron having the mode change ability in Voltron force

In my hometown when I was growing up we had a K-mart and an Ames. The "Voltron shelf" in the toy aisle would consist of about half of the Voltron II boxes opened and the contents played with/scattered all over the shelf like some kind of ghetto daycare, and the Voltron I and Voltron III products would ALWAYS be sold out. I recall fiddling with some of those Voltron II figures that were opened and could never figure out how to reconfigure/transform them like shown on the box. Thanks for sharing! Kind of a deep dive, but reminds me of a super robot from the 70's, Getter Ryger, which was released under the Shogun Warriors franchise here in the USA as "Raider". There was a model kit from Monogram, and some die-cast figures with awesome chrome shoot-your-eye-out choking-hazard fists and missiles under Mattel. It too consisted of three smaller robots that "stacked" like Albegas and each of the six possible configurations had different powers/strengths.

@@thegoodthebadtheawesome yeah, i realized what u were talking about after i left the comment. The way u called it "the voltron we never got" confused ke because of course it was never a voltron. Id always wanted to get voltron 2 just to have the complete collection. Having seen the HIDEOUSLY deformed voltron actual figure instead of pictures i believe im just going to erase 2 from my mind and stick with lion force and vehicle force. I cant imagine why they tried to make this a voltron. It just doesn't fit with the other 2.

I have to complete it! Action Toys is coming out with a more modern Albegas. I wonder how this would have done if the cartoon actually made it to the US
@songsan8074 күн бұрын
I remembered seeing them at a Children's Palace back in the 80s for $20 each. So all 3 would have been $60, which was a lot of money back then. Now I would buy 2 sets of each toy, 1 to play with and one unopen for my collection or to pass down to the kids.
@thegoodthebadtheawesome4 күн бұрын
That is true! Thanks for sharing!

@@songsan807 I had a couple of friends, a pair of sisters just a little younger than me, whose mom actually did this in the 80s - they thought He-Man was the best toy line so the mom bought dupes for playing and for storing away. I think they cashed in their collection sometime in the early 00s or so, like at the height of eBay. I would say genius, but have to acknowledge the sheer luck factor (see also: beanie babies)

Matchbox owned the rights to these toys 40 years ago, and Matchbox was folded into Mattel ages ago. Could Mattel rerelease these particular molds if they still exist or reverse engineer from existing examples?

It would be interesting if they would! For now we have to rely on Action Toys release coming soon and hope Bandai does a Soul of Chogokin version.

Voltron I : 15 vehicles Voltron II : 3 robots Voltron II : 5 lions. If there was justice in the near, middle and far universe Voltron II would have been named Voltron III.

One creator to another, do yourself a favor. Establish your shot, focus, then disable auto focus. This way your camera doesn't shift focus from your hands to the subject you're filming and back. Great look at these, I knew of the toys but this is the first time I've seen them!

I remember seeing this Matchbox toy at my local Toys R Us during my elementary school days. Confused the hell out of me but not because there was a Voltron 2. I knew there was supposed to be a Voltron 2 but I didn’t expect this robot released by Matchbox to be Voltron 2. I knew the lions were Voltron 3 and the vehicles were Voltron 1, but the Voltron 2 I was expecting was a robot called Daltanius or Daltron. Why? Because about a month before Voltron 3 aired on my local channel, there were commercials for an upcoming robot show for kids that listed each Voltron. Dairugger was 1. GoLion was 3 and Daltanius was 2. Imagine our surprise when V3 was aired first, then V1 aired, and then Voltron 2 never aired. He was always the mysterious and forgotten Voltron. And the Voltron who had an identity problem because he was either Albegas or Daltanius. I’m not sure if that commercial can be found on KZbin. Over the years I had wondered if I was just remembering it wrong but my older brother confirmed he saw Daltanius listed as Voltron 2 in that commercial. I also remember this one kid in my elementary school actually bringing a Daltanius robot to school.and calling it Voltron 2 which means he must have seen the same commercial I did. He most probably got it at my local flea market at the time which was a hotbed for authentic and bootleg Japanese toys.

Back/Heel legs might need to go toe forward if we are going of box art unless the peg slot interferes. But that may also explain why Alpha is the only one that had the legs CORRECT in stand-alone form. Both Beta and Gamma were still aligned for combined mode. The CC for the other one you mention is "Delonus" but it sounds like you said "Daltonius". Could you clarify please?

I still have mine in a cedar chest. I hope they're still completely intact. I remember seeing them at Toys R Is. I watched the cartoon and knew vehicle and lion forces but had no idea what these were. But the package said Voltron! And on the back it showed the other Voltrons so they belonged with them. These were also the first Votron toys I had ever seen in a store. I had to get them! I showed them to my friends and because of the box we all accepted it was Voltron even if we never saw it in the cartoon. We never saw the Deluxe Insecticons in Transformers but they were still Transformers. Sometimes when we were outside playing my one friend would shout "Form Votron Two!" And he'd hop on my back and we'd go around with me carrying him and him swatting the other kids on their heads.
