This is the first time I’ve ever seen an oil filter, fatigue like this. It is also the first time that I ever let a filter go unchanged for two years I reckon the lesson to be learned from this, at least for me is the change the filter at a minimum every 12 months. I am quite surprised that the filter did fatigue like this. Definitely is a quality problem. Thanks for replying.

Thanks for the demo. I've been thinking about adding a foot ascender to my Blake's hitch system, but I wasn't sure how well it would work with MRS. The self-tending mod really makes life easier, I've found. One suggestion: try adding a close-up of the item, itself.

@@justinwest4923 okay gotcha, I will try to do a short on that. I use a Notch jet step. Some people say it’s not a beginners ascender, because it’s not a locking type. But it is the ascender I started on as a beginner. I personally would not like a locker, even now because I don’t like to be locked in a device in case I muck something up! Hey, maybe a locker has benefits, but that is something that an individual will decide.

Honestly you looked better than I did my first time but I jumped into it with just a tiny bit less forethought than you did it seems. Using gloves was a game changer which you may or may not like. It is annoying taking them off to do detail work or keeping them on through it but the way it grips the rope really helped me for some reason. Doesn’t look like you need any help just sharing my experience as I’m a new climber too. Thanks for sharing and filming your journey.

Hi, I'm currently using a cheap foot ascender from AliExpress for €13. It works, but the rope flies out regularly. It's so annoying. The strap also slips. What about the Notch JetStep? Does the strap slip? Greetings from Germany
@philosborn1840
@philosborn1840 3 ай бұрын
@@TredasTaurin yes, the notch jet step moves around some what as I just keep it affixed snuggly. If it’s too tight as some people prefer, it becomes uncomfortable. The notch jet step can kick out as it has 2 cams and can’t be locked. I use it on the right foot so I keep the toe down when using. It would be opposite on the left foot. Other than that it is very rope friendly.

@TredasTaurin
@TredasTaurin 3 ай бұрын
@@philosborn1840 At first I used the Camp Goblin as a mechanical device for the rope walk. It is also approved for this purpose. Normally the Goblin is a mobile fall arrester like the Petzl asap. But with the Goblin you can only ascend the rope. For descending I use several devices, depending on my mood. Petzl IDs, or the Edelrid Megawatt. Recently I have preferred using the Edelrid Pinch. It is so small and flexible that it is just fun to use. I also have a Notch flow rope wrench fusion tether combo. But that was only delivered to me from the USA a month ago. I don't have much experience with it yet. I uploaded a short about it on my channel if you are interested.

Firstly, the main reason Teufelberger tells you to use their replacement bridges strictly is because, if you use anything else, it will void the warranty on your harness. I frequently need to adjust my bridge length for various demonstrations on my KZbin channel and, after one has loaded the Teufelberger bridge even a few times, that stopper knot becomes all but impossible to untie and so I cut mine off and now use two 11mm lengths of ropes of diferent make and model so that my bridges can be a) color coded, b) so that I could have extra length on my main bridge and daisy chain the excess the way you have shown and c) so that both of my bridges can easily be untied and have the lengths adjusted at anytime. I usually will run them at the same length so that I can use them together, for a redundant bridge arrangement, or so that I can use each one separately for two different climbing systems at the same time. Just like yourself, I also have a ring on each bridge because I prefer how it orients my hardware and devices by 90 degrees. Anyways, my original point was that I do not believe there exist any inherent risks surrounding using non-Teufelberger bridges on one's Treemotion so long as they are regularly inspected and fit properly. I honestly believe Teufelberger is just trying to market more of their own products. Interesting video. Thanks for posting. I have a KZbin channel all about knots, friction hitches, and tree climbing if you ever want to check it out. Take care!

One could argue that the stopper knots tied could have the same effects of the stitching on the ends of the OEM rope. But i still like the 3 stage construction of the Tuefelburger bridges. Speaking of knots, and your the Knot Guy, my bridge ends are tied with double overhands. I had a steveadore come undone on a lanyard end once, and I said screw this horse crap.
@philosborn1840
@philosborn1840 3 ай бұрын
We were talking about that update padding for the essential belt, you said it was double folded so the adjuster wouldn’t pull through. Well tuefelberger says for the leg loop replacement to cut the stitches, complete the replacement and restitch ( I guess by hand). I noticed they also supply rivets to achieve the same result.
@ethanlancaster76
@ethanlancaster76 2 ай бұрын
@@philosborn1840the stopper knots don’t prevent the cover and core of the rope from moving independently. That being said that’s not really an issue as long as you’re not using a rope that “milks” easily, or the ends are exposed to inspection. If you’re really concerned about the core material moving around inside the cover then you should consider learning how to whip the tales of your bridges. Oh, and the three part construction of the rope is pretty common in modern ropes and it’s usually just to help keep the round shape under tension.
