"Writers who know the difference between a market commodity and the practice of art"....what a relevant line for the SFF writers today. Ursula is sorely missed!

It works in Canada, too. In the winter, ours just switch from four wheelers to snowmobiles.

We still get up and go to work and get up and take the kids to school. And yes most people in New York and LA do too. Thank You for saying most people are alike. That's been my experience too!! Haven't been in every state but worked in many,. Washed my clothes in lots of laundry mats and taken a wrong turn and ended up in a ghetto or 3. The common concerns of life, wellbeing of family and friends are the primary concerns of all humans I think.

Why? First, I am old enough to know who these people are....but why do I need to know this nonsense? Why does it always pop up on youtube?

my dad worked on his dad's farm picking cotton at age 9. The term 'redneck' is from farmers and farmworkers who spent their days outside and would get sunburned on any exposed skin, face, hands and neck especially. But generally it applies to people whose livelihood is outdoors, and have common sense in dealing with nature, lack of resources and general practicality. Supermarkets have only been a part of their lives for only a generation or so. If you wanted to eat, you had to grow it - whether corn or beef. If you wanted to wear it, you had to grow it - cotton or wool, and know how card, spin and weave. City folk are pretty much ignorant of country ways, thinking all you have to have is money to buy what you want. But back to rednecks - I spent most of my working life as an accountant, but drove a pickup with a gun-rack, and live in a mobile home. [less maintenance, cheaper to buy and the neighbors are mostly decent]. And the best job I ever had was working in a furniture factory running a rip-saw. My daddy taught me how to read a map, forest and city varieties; how to survive a snowstorm in the woods; how to live in the woods with just a hunting knife - had a gun, but don't use it to hunt cuz bullets are hard to come by and one needs to eat every day. Practicality, working with what's at hand to get the job done. That takes smarts, so don't write off us red'necks. Side note - my dad served in the Navy in WWII with Buddy Ebsen [Jed Clampett]. They played chess and my dad sharpened his knives.

my husband is from oklahoma, im from michigan. when he first came up to michigan to visit me, he was shocked and amazed that somebody drove by my place with a dukes of hazard car, complete with the rebel flag on it... the next day he saw a huge pickup flying the confederate flag on the back... we've got kid rock just 20 miles from where i lived..and one morning during his visit he stopped at the 4 way stop sign where two 2 lane highways crossed not far from where i was living... he walked in to get a cup of coffee and was stunned by what he walked into... on the one end of the store was a section for 2A and Trump enthusiasts and an extra large deer pole out back on the premesis... 12 years later, that store still is very enthusiastic about it all. even when i lived in the north metro detroit area, you couldn't throw a rock and not hit a redneck. yeah.. rednecks are everywhere! america is full of em! it's in the bedrock of the american way!

One of the wealthiest comics who made a fortune off of being relatable. He put in the hard work to. I remember one joke that in the south you would get. I mowed the yard today and found a car. I was in Afghanistan and had a female engineer friend and she did that take a hundred off the accent. Then was like you are smarter than you sound. Still would rather keep the voice than those who try to adapt to be what you're not.

If you want use a teflon-coated pan, you can also use a silicon whisk to scramble the eggs in the pan to create those small curds without damaging it. Then use a spatula to fold the omelet over itself to create the same effect.
