Cool green GBP! Like how the breccia is incorporated into the green as well. I'm guessing that's chalcedony? Very unusual color unless it's actually jasper? Nice find. I've seen you tumble rocks, do you ever do any face polish?

1st is a seam agate or a sea maggot as I heard someone else call it.😅 2nd looks like a mountain range at dusk/dark. Gorgeous ❤❤❤! 5:00 Possibly a granitoid? I realize it's very light in color, but the crystal pattern looks right... Does the last one have a brecciated crust??? That would be crazy if it did. Beautiful set of stones this week GBP, enjoyed them immensely!❤

lol! i haven’t heard that one! yeah, i really like the distinction between the different areas of the second rock. oh interesting! you saying that made me think that it almost looks a little marble-y to me… i’m glad you saw it too, i decided not to say it, but that’s definitely what it looked like on the crust to me too! Glad you enjoyed, i appreciate the info and thoughts! thanks for tuning in!!

GBP, again the "cement" looks like basalt and rhyolite which I'm not sure makes any sense. Ask Jared at @CurrentlyRockhounding or Elly at @Ellyknowsrocks. Both are excellent geologists.

GBP, is the desert patina oxidation? Love "healed" brecciation!❤ It must've been some awesome pressure to essentially crush the rock in place!
@GreatBasinProspecting12 күн бұрын
ah, so cool!! my understanding is that it is in general partly due to oxidation, and for this one i do think it’s primarily iron oxidation
@kerryharding138513 күн бұрын
Isn’t that jasper?
@GreatBasinProspecting12 күн бұрын
it’s very similar, and often sold as jasper because that’s a name people recognize. rhyolite forms volcanically and has a high silica content which gives a similar appearance to jasper.

3:04 looks like moss agate out of central Arizona. The conglomerate is wild looking! That's packed together. Looks like it has both basalt and rhyolite as host rock based on the black and red matrix, but I don't think that's the way it works geologically.🤔🙂😄 The last one looks almost like brecciated agate. Coolstrange, my new made up word for minerals like this. Great video GBP.
@GreatBasinProspecting15 күн бұрын
Definitely! I was surprised at the moss agate, pleasantly of course. I know what you mean, with some of these they look like combinations i’m not sure should happen 🧐 I like coolstrange, haha, i probably prefer interesting to only pretty in terms of the rocks :) thank you!

The 1st rock was gorgeous! Glad you cut it lengthwise 😊 2nd rock I like the rough exterior,I collected some like that,was drawn to the unique rough patterns & kinda lavish looking but not lava lol. Mine also are Lahontan Jasper, I especially like the dark chocolate to almost black rough exteriors. Can't get over the 2nd rock with the moss agate look. Beautiful & just all the colors on that one. What do you use to cut your rocks? Do you have a full blown lapidary shop? Curious looking for something affordable lol. Will be getting my flex shaft /motor/foot peddle rotary tool (like a foredom but cheaper) in today from Amazon. Excited to try my hand at polishing& shaping some of the rocks I collected. All your rocks are beautiful! Thanks for showing again.✌️😎🤗⛏️
@GreatBasinProspecting15 күн бұрын
thank you!! yeah, the moss agate was a nice surprise ! i just have a budget setup right now, i would love to get an actual lapidary saw at some point. currently i use a 7” Rigid table top tile saw, with a “turbo mesh” diamond blade.
@Howlin-SnowolfMo615 күн бұрын
@GreatBasinProspecting yea I'm pretty budgeted also lol. My 1st rotary tool w/ flex shaft I've had for years & it's a off brand Dremel style. I do woodwork & also have loved & collected rocks for a long time & now trying to put the 2 together like making stands & such for various rocks. My roomie is a big rock hound & lol I mean Big ( rocks) the yard is full of certain circles of big boulders & rocks he's collected out in areas around where we live. I have been looking at wet tile saws, they are a lot more reasonably priced. Love your last short & yea think that's a fossil. I have a few slate like with fossil inclusions.
@GreatBasinProspecting8 күн бұрын
@ oh cool! yeah, the tile saw isn’t too bad price wise, and has been working well so far. lol, yeah, when i first started rockhounding i had to limit the size of what i brought home, otherwise i’d have something similar in the yard!! haha
