Boy that brings back memories. Maybe I'll give it another shot this fall/winter. I used shrimp pieces for bait because it was hard to get fat heads where I live.

You down by Goose Lake and 355.? On my list of places to get to. I have a paddle kayak so I have to make sure I can get home. lol. That kayak “launch” is the worst to get a kayak out. If you go the other direction, there is another area with pike everywhere.

What fish do you recommend to catch there
@3SevenFishing
@3SevenFishing 8 ай бұрын
Place is loaded with bass and crappie. Was also stocked with muskie a few years ago. I've pulled a 40"er out of here last year accidently while fishing for bass. Most of the lake is flat and mud bottom but there are several raised gravel areas and sandbars that hold alot of fish on the dropoffs, particularly on the south side of the lake directly south of the boat ramp a few hundred feet east of the house/beach area.

@@brandansurdyk4331 the most expensive lure you can throw is called time lol... lots of time. Ive trolled and casted so many baits here and caught one big ass musky my very first time ever fishing here but never since. I keep going back hoping to get lucky again but it hasnt happened since :(

@@brandansurdyk4331 i caught a 40” muksie once out of there and lost another smaller one. Got it on a strike king shallow diving squarebill while bass fishing. This was a couple years ago, havent seen any since. Bigger lures would probably be the best to entice them to eat but honestly im not sure

Does only live bait work? Or would plastic worms work as well?
@3SevenFishing
@3SevenFishing Жыл бұрын
keitech makes little plastics that look just like these minnows, I've never caught anything on them but I've also rarely used them. I have seen some guys use them with success. The smaller and more natural looking the better usually. I would always recommend live bait though at the end of the day

Use a freshwater pole and breakfast water a zip code or a pen either one you use it for saltwater catfishing hard heads and cell cats or sand fridge or sheet set and depending on what you go after use it for ice fishing hitting what size pole you need that's like fly fishing don't practice you don't get good enough for the USA Captain Paul
@PaulTaylor-ko8jy
@PaulTaylor-ko8jy Жыл бұрын
Yes you can use freshwater poles in saltwater I disagree with waypoint person you use a freshwater pole use 12 lb test line and figure what you going to go after yes you can use a freshwater pole and saltwater use a saltwatering and fresh water just got to wash them down and make sure you have enough line on there 12 lb test line I use fresh and salt depending on what you go after go after something bigger use 22 lb test line make sure you have the right gear right Pole and see what what you're going to go fishing for mainly I do surface again sure so it's the right gear depending on what you go after depending on what kind of fish you'll catch use a freshwater pole and salt water and ZIP code or you use a pen and fresh water salt both are operating zip code and 10 I use for both

What type of boots were you wearing while wading? Fished the Kankakee near Kankakee IL and the state park coutless days from 1982 till late 1990's Started wading wearing old tennis shoes and yes it beat the snot out of my feet Then transitioned to Redball waders and made a huge difference Drift fished nightcrawlers or used Rapala Shadraps and did well 90% of the time

My dad and I went out to Montrose harbor with no fishing experience a few years back. Used minnows from the Park Bait shop. We would throw it in the water and have a perch hooked on in less than a minute. Put them in a bucket with water, counted over 40 when we were done in less than an hour. Threw them all back after but never experienced anything like that again. Beginners luck I guess haha

What size do you consider keepers?
@3SevenFishing
@3SevenFishing 2 жыл бұрын
depends on what kind of day youre having, how long you'll be out, and how much work you want to do when you get home. If you are hitting jumbos right away then say keep it 10" and over.. if you are struggling and still want to bring some home i would keep over 8".Anything less than that isnt really worth what you get out of it
