They are old NS motors but yes it has been proven to be a challenge for some their trains having the difference from AC to DC.

Wonder what will happen here when the power plant is forced to stop using coal will the rails be pulled up.

I doubt it'll happen any time soon. That's one of the main power plants in the area. Even if it did shut down more than likely the rails would sit and not be pulled.
