This was filmed on my 7th birthday! I hate to hear and see parks like this to close and torn down for HOA subdivisions. But I'm glad it was documented on video for us to enjoy for years and years

I broke my finger at 9 years old doing this of course I got the blame that I didn't pull it out correctly. Like where's the instructions 😂 it was at West point Park in landsdale Pa. Long gone now but this brings back memories 👀

Yikes...I guess that's why ring machines are hard to find. I don't remember West Point Park having a ring machine...it must have been before my time. Here's our video of that park: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpO9oZp7mqirhpYsi=njlaTs1qJQmUmaNI

@DarkinthePark my understanding it was removed in 1970. The same year it occurred. It lost fanfare shortly afterwards and as I got older was rarely used much. People used the pinball machines round the inner sides of where they kept it more. Strange besides this happening I enjoyed the park many times over the years. It was more for family and tucked away in a neighborhood.

Went there many times. Scary as hell for a teenager! Through the years they would change things which made it worse. LOL! Been going to Wildwood since 1970.

I remember Castle Dracula like it was yesterday. I was 3-4 yrs old. I was scared shhh….less everytime we’d good past the absolute best section of the board walk. My Grand Parents had access to the 2600 build at the North end of the boardwalk . Friends of theirs were so kind and they would share their rooms there with our family I believe my my grand parents would share their house that’s located (to this day) on the bayside of Glenwood Avenue. Their house overlooked the South Bay and we would listen to Sunday with Sinatra and have breakfast while watchin the south bridge open early in the morning. This brought back so many memories. Eventually that all was built up and we lost the one time unbelievable view of the untouched landscape. We would be talking about the Castle Dracula for days before we would arrive in Wildwood. The excitement would grow and we all would scare each other all the way along the ride down Rt.55 south to 47 all the way to Beauna Vista Blvd. Even had a trailer at the Beach Comer Camp Ground because we wanted to be close to the Wildwood board walk (after the house was sold) and All the Rides and excitement. My family hearts bleed for you and shed tears for this iconic lose, Then and even now. Absolutely saving and downloading this for keepsake. Thanks so very for taking the time and sharing your story.

My sons were so afraid of just the looks and sound effects of the Castle that they cried if we went too close. I miss those times as well as when I was a teenager going through this landmark. Horrible that the two teenagers got away from this horrible arson with a slap on the wrist 🤬

I pushed against so many hot teenage girls back when I was there in high school! It was like where teen boys and girls got to grind together! I left there with a lump in my pants and met quite a few girls such as Monica from south Philly. We made it back to the Buccaneer hotel and I got to third base but my “friend” Greg Smalley insisted that we had to leave because he had to mow the lawn the next morning or his father would ground him. Damn….that was the summer of 81 and I still remember it today at age 61!

That was 1 of the best rides and sights of wildwood boardwalk. I remember as a kid seeing that castle how amazing it looked and how amazing the boat ride was and the walk through. I remember going into that castle a few times every summer at the shore. Such an amazing time and an amazing time in life. That castle was legendary

Grew up in Brigantine at that time. I was there almost every night in the summer. I remember all the commercials, the great pizza at Walt’s, arcade. The Castle itself was awesome. The dealers in death at the round table and the music set the tone. Dracula jumping out of the picture frame was really good. The lady getting her head cut off was freaky. That late 70’s , early 80’s time was unforgettable. Thanks Carmen Ricci for the memories and thank you Dark in the Park for making this documentary.

I spent my summers at the '60s & '70's at the South Jersey shore. We started seeing ads for Brigantine Castle in the '70s, so my mom, my two siblings & me, along with my 4 cousins would go from Sea Isle City up to Brigantine Castle. Great day trip in the middle of a South Jersey summer! I miss that place...when Aqua Teen Hunger Force started up and they showed the Scary Castle in South Jersey, I immediately thought that one of the writers had to have had the same childhood/teen years I did.

There aren't that many permanent funhouses left, I went through most of the ones in Wildwood like Crazy House on Fun Pier, Showboat on Mariner's Landing, Pirate Ship Skua on Hunt's Pier, the two fun houses on Morey's and Mariner's in the mid-late 90's, and the Chamber of Checkers on Wild Wheels/Adventure Pier (old Fun Pier).
