Following this video and Rain6's quality knowledge, I mounted this DPM spring on my S1Speed, your AF1 will really be improved in terms of performance. This punch problem no more exist with the AF1Speed. What changes between the old spring and this DPM is that the rod-body of the spring becomes metallic, and also it integrates a spring which allows to dampen the return to the rear of the slide. By switching to the DPM you will no longer have one spring but 2; a spring which dampens the forward movement of the slide, and another which dampens the rear movement. The different spring hardnesses allow the versatility of being able to benefit from the improvements of the DPM spring whether you are shooting from the homemade soft reload or the very powerful manufactured. The pistol slams less and everything is smoother, if you get the hang of it you can shoot very quickly in a very sustained manner.

I couldn't put the trigger pivot pin in after struggling for twenty minutes. I found the hole wasn't big enough. I dressed down the pin and chamfered the end and it was fine. I still have a bit of roughness on the trigger but it should wear in. There might be a burr on the edge of the hole.

Without a small hammer it would be impossible to armor several of these every day, a small armorers hammer with punches come in handy if you plan on getting inside the gun... and I recommend you do to thoroughly clean it once in a while. I had one today for a trigger job and boy was it filthy, need to charge extra or find a better deal on towels :)

@@rain6firearmsandlifestyle131 Definitely because of the close tolerance of the trigger hole. The fault is mine since I didn't check the clearance before trying to push the pin through. I usually check pin diameters and hole clearances. the only real frightening part of the operation was seating the retention pin spring. It was easier when I used a dental pick and pushed the arm toward that pin hole. I have to thank you for the clear and concise video. It would have been close to impossible without it. Thank you. And I shot it today and it was really nice. That curved trigger is horrible and I'm happy it's gone.

Thanks for making this nice detail strip video, I found it trying to decide whether I liked the design of the gun or not. Is there a reason for the weird two-piece striker and spring assembly? I'm sure it's reliable enough but it seems way more complicated than something like a Glock and I don't see a good reason to do it that way.

I bought one a couple weeks ago. Yes, more expensive than a Glock but, In my opinion better in a lot of ways. For the records, former lawman and SWAT guy of 22 years. Participated in four SWAT Olympics (So I understand the requirement for reliability and accuracy) and have owned and am an armorer in several weapons systems to include Sig Sauer, Glock Colt and have shot/owned a ton of handguns over the last 45 years. I took the Archon to the range with 400 various types of rounds/makers/bullet weights. I did not pre oil the gun. I had ZERO malfunctions of any sort. Fast fire at a two-inch target at 15 yards and at first, I thought I was missing my target. Turns out, I had rounds going through the same holes. This gun is as accurate as my Sig P320 AXG Pro and feels better in the hand than any of my numerous Glocks/CZ's/HK/S&W's/ETC, Blah/Blah. Frankly, the fastest and flattest handgun I now possess. Two minor gripes for the records. First, the take down pin got pretty hot after 150 rounds fast fire and lastly, the mag release did suck but, I took her home and lubed her up while working the release and now.....sunshine, unicorn farts and rainbows. This gun should be way more popular and hopefully will be. I've never been a fancy fella to stick all manner of crap on a defense pistol, I am a dinosaur and have used iron sights for my entire life and pretty well at that. The Achon is a lite, very accurate, reliable, flat shooting as anything I have ever laid hands on and I am gonna tote this ARCHON for the foreseeable future

Id love a solid recoil spring with a single spring setup. For the strike one Toni systems makes one for around $30 and springs are another $10.
@rain6firearmsandlifestyle131
@rain6firearmsandlifestyle131 3 ай бұрын
I've spent a 100+ hrs. sadly on trying to get the right spring to operate in that short distance... so far impossible as they springs always get defeated after a few dozen rds. The Strike One's longer operating distance of.61" is a game changer for solid guide rod and springs. There is a way with a custom spring potentially, a flat spring vs. round wire may add what is needed.
@nacsmxer
@nacsmxer 3 ай бұрын
@@rain6firearmsandlifestyle131 I can see that with the requirement of a "fat" guide rod on the Type B's if you wanted a single rate recoil spring. Not going to be simple to throw a flat wire spring on there that can take many thousands of rounds without breaking a sweat. With such an abbreviated recoil system, it's much like the short 3" Officer sized .45 ACP 1911's that come with factory dual recoil spring systems. The main round wire recoil spring is toast and recommended to be changed by the manufacturers in as little as 500 rounds. That tiny round wire spring just cannot survive the punishment; not enough spring coils to to the work and not enough distance to spread the load between them. I can see the a short single rate round wire spring on the Type B just not lasting like you said, I still have your single spring prototype guide rod. A work-around would require a smaller diameter guide rod which could accept a flat wire spring and an adapter bushing/washer similar to the Glock Gen 4 to Gen 3 recoil kits out there. Until then, the DPM system is pretty damn good and works as advertised. My ported Type B from Rain 6 runs like a champ using this system.

@@rain6firearmsandlifestyle131 So after some research and as I understand it (correct me if I’m wrong). A comp isn’t going to change much of anything internally if the comp is threaded, or mounted in the case of your comp, at the end of the barrel. It’s a combination of your form, spring tension, and the pressure of your ammo that will cause malfunctions over the use of a forward mounted comp. So using a lighter spring (like the set advertised in your older videos) in combination of good form and this or any other comp should not induce any malfunctions correct?
