How would you handle with tourniquet on for 1 min with multiple tubes?
@PhlebotomySolutions
@PhlebotomySolutions 6 күн бұрын
Great question. If you have multiple tubes and the one-minute mark is approaching, you will need to release the tourniquet during the draw close to it. Anything drawn over the minute mark is likely to be affected. Please don't keep the tourniquet on for over a minute while drawing, period.

Once you enter the skin dont redirect and try to "find the vein". Just start again. Ive had people hit nerves, cut up the vein more and just cause so many issues because they missed the vein but dont want to try again. It bloody hurts every single time you redirect. It is a sharp object, being forced to move around under the skin. You are cutting everything you touch. Just. Start. Again.

WHERE ALL MY FENTANYL AND METH ADDICTS🎉
@Hermes-Quadmegistus
@Hermes-Quadmegistus Ай бұрын
I am an addict and some of the comments have been really insightful as well as the video content. Because my veins have collapsed I have to use my femoral vein or my neck by blowing my thumb and holding my breath. both I know are bad practices but when you are desperate or in withdrawal anything that gets the gear in my veins is a bonus. I have a hot shower, an electrolyte drink, and a pint or two of water before my hit to ensure I'm hydrated. A hot shower beforehand also helps with hygiene. Although I still use a swab of or I have an atomizer with isopropyl alcohol; I have been injecting heroin and cocaine together, it's called a snowball and I've been an I.V. user for 26 years I'll be 49 next summer, and I have never had an abscess, boil, septicemia or any injection-related infection '(Touchwood)'. My friends call me Dr D, as people ask me to get them when they can't get on. but I always have Naltrexone on me and I push super slow so if they start to look too stoned I will stop pushing to prevent O.D. I saved my fair share of lives from an accidental overdose when other people have done it for them and they have panicked and run off and left them as it carries a potential manslaughter charge. The hospital and Dr surgery staff can't get them and when people I know including myself have a blood test ......I always end up suggesting to them I could get it, I would sign a waiver if they're uncomfortable, with me doing it, as it is better than them stabbing me repeatedly with no luck and the more times they miss the more there confidence starts to ebb then comes the frustration. I have no trouble because the sites are big veins but I'm going to add some of your techniques alongside what I already know as you can never have enough knowledge or wisdom. That goes for people in the comments section as well. Regardless of my lifestyle, you wouldn't know to look at me. I do plan on cleaning my act up before too much damage is done that's irreversible and unsightly. I've been lucky so far apart from the collapsed veins......but I go to the gym and the veins find a new path but you can't use their new veins because they blow. It takes some time for the veins to reroute the circulation. A good tip is to during exercise or weight lifting have some beetroot juice before a workout as this helps increase nitrous oxide levels naturally which in turn causes vasodilation and adds to the work and the veins look great. but after I settle down my veins shrink again, but I know if I Quit the drugs and put in the hard work, some of the damage can be reversed to a degree. Is anyone else out there an addict? If so keep your chin up, and don't give up trying to quit. And never let your moral and morals slip. own your flaws. You'll do fine.

Good evening! I have a questions which one goes first for order of draw? Lavender or Pink? And aside from date of birth in out patient what is the most important identification?please help me asap.I really appreciate your time.
@PhlebotomySolutions
@PhlebotomySolutions Ай бұрын
@@CPT-AT24 The order of draw between lavender and pink doesn’t matter because they both contain the same additive. Now, if you’re doing a stat draw for one of the tubes then that would proceed the other. For patient ID the most important part is their first and last name spelled out completely. Always have the patient spell their first and last name because people can have the same name and spell it differently. You then go to date of birth and anything else on the requisition or the label will help you.

CLIA, not CLEA. That is false about Red tubes. GLASS red tubes do not have additive. PLASTIC RED has Clot activator. Tiger top is an SST, a Serum Separator Tube, because it has the gel barrier in it. Red top tubes do not have gel barriers therefore are NOT SSTs. Too small a needle for too large a vein or tube causes the RED CELLS to break, causing Hemolysis. The stronger suctions pulls the vein tissue into the needle tip, which either tears it causing a blow, or completely occludes the needle and stops blood flow. Your needle may be too high in the vein, or turned towards the side and sitting to close to the side of the vein. Not enough blood back up in the vein vs how much you need to draw. The vacuum in the tube isn't going to start out strong and then sudden "go out." If the vacuum is an issue, it will be so from the start of the draw, or will not fill the tubes fully.
@PhlebotomySolutions
@PhlebotomySolutions 2 ай бұрын
I think if you actually were listening carefully of what I said, I stated that red top tubes typically don’t have additives and to read the side of the label. And I mentioned what the SST tube was. Not sure what your point is, but if you don’t like the information then don’t watch. Nothing in there was false. You obviously were not listening.
