@@ragercrepair9301 spot on, should work out good. I just need to drill the backing plate for the 4 jaw and make a plate. That skinny one should be handy for making small bushing ect.

@BuckYaSaws I think you'll find that skinny one will come in handy for all sort of smaller stuff. Especially for making say a 12mm to 10mm wrist pin bushing with a collar on it. That's where I need to update mt lathe period.

@@chrisaker25 it’s just a short clip of the saw idling. To get yours to sound like it you need to mod the muffler, the carb settings won’t really help you. The carb setting are set to my saw mods, altitude, ect…

These are one of my favorite saws to fiddle with because they are so easy to tear apart and modify. If you screw up, cylinders are a dime a dozen!

Those open port 45mm that came on the 51 I think .. Those run really good after some work. They have nice small chambers and wide bands . Throw some hot numbers in em and a good set of fingers in they’ll rip. Fun to play with and experiment on.

@@BuckYaSaws no man not at all it sounds great. On those I’ve found the key to Torq but still spin the chain is keeping 2-210psi with like a 98 roof. Around 120 transfers and 78 intake. They wake right up

Running pretty darn good! I really love the 55 chassis. I'm kist searching for the best performance and making it so most anyone can do it. Someday I'll end up with an easy mod that works well that anyone can do!

@@ragercrepair9301 thanks bud! went back in and cut the base & tweeted the porting. 105,119/122 & 78 with .023 squish. Still rocking the stock carb for now, have a 372 carb sitting here but need another top cover. I don’t want to drill that old one for a v stack setup 😂.

@BuckYaSaws I would try getting that exhaust to around 102 or so. She will spin a lot higher rpm! Also if you cut about half the key out of the flywheel to advance the timing, you will see and incredible increase in cut speed and power!

@@ragercrepair9301 I did a mild lung intake on it. 102,120 flat and 78 with .028 squish. Runs decent. I’ll post the vid of the port work soon.

@@BuckYaSaws those are pretty good numbers. Remember, you can lung it pretty much all the way to the piston skirt. That helps a lot with intake open time. Just leave enough room on the table so your rings don't ever have a chance to drop into the intake at BDC. I think it's running very well. That's a fresh cylinder with new rings correct?

@@BuckYaSaws also if you get that squashed down to about .020 4.022 that will help with your compression in a little bit of torque. Just keep that in mind as you're navigating trying to get the best performance out of that girl. I will say that thing is running very well, and once you get it broken in it's going to be even more powerful.!

Clean setup buddy. Keep up the good work, ready to see the process on this. This would be a blast a racetracks running around the pits. May want to try to plumb some of your vacuum lines to the intake port/filter. That’ll give you vacuum and not force pressure into the crankcase.

She's cutting great! I think you'll see a huge increase if you open up that muffler. It sounds like it's struggling to breath up high some.

@BuckYaSaws ahhh I see. Try a lung in the intake towards the skirt of the piston. Then adjust your intake timing to approximately 78 degrees. I think you'll notice a huge performance up high and a lot more torque. It doesn't sound like it has a lot of exhaust, but that can be caused if it doesn't have quite enough intake too

I bought a “GardenPal” brand cyl $ piston kit off Amazon for 45$. It’s as nice or nicer than oem. I was blown away at how nice the plating, chamfering and port shapes are for under 50$ shipped to my door in 2 days. I think they make a 461 kit as well as some others no one else makes typically. They even make a 2100 top end kit.

Man those milling setups have built a lot of stuff over the last 100 years. Many times that’s all a guy would have in his home workshop. Great lathe setup you got there and an even cooler project.

Man looks like my bench. I have all the same carb tools including the green pump. I use that lil green pump to do most of my pressure testing nowadays. It’s always within reach so instead of dig out my mighty vac I grab that. I’ve got a crap load of time on that lil pump and it’s treated me right especially for 15$ back when I bought it 2-3 years ago.

Cool, which brand? Those are key things you mentioned. If plating handles port work, the timing numbers are very decent, not excessive casting flash, then it’s a good buy. I like that the cooling fins are very similar to OEM…some are so think they have a very heavy look and feel bs OEM.

@@jimssawsnstuff8903 thanks Jim! It’s Mtanlo brand. The plating held up fine to the porting, I’ll post the video tomorrow of the port work. The flash wasent to bad, just a little more then the oem 461 cylinder. I plan to do a long term review on it to see how it holds up.

@ sounds good! I’ve used that brand too, just not for cylinders yet. It was such a scramble up here with the postal strike, really limited options. I’ve found opening the Lower transfers and some slow work sure helps the 461’s

@BuckYaSaws that's what I'm running on my 55 and they make a huge difference. I think that carb flows very well. The one i built with the 372 carb runs a higher rpm, but has less low end. Makes me think with the 036 being 60 cc it would like the 440 carb.

Curious why you didn't cut the lower sides of the piston to let it breath better into the transfers better ? Also, were you able to get your squish down to .020" ? thanks for sharing

@@SSRacing66 was going try that on one of my other v modest. Squish I think is around .023 give or take with the base gasket delete. I’m just going off memory, not near my note pad.
