I have been using the 19-dollar F411 of HGLRC Patrel in my helicopter for 4+ years. I got burned by the F745 of Flywoo because it sometimes deems the ICM unstable and quickly makes a flip immediately after entering stabilization mode after spooling up my rotor. Also, switching back and forth between angle mode and acro mode introduces a large offset of attitude. Wish me luck with speedybee 405 mini now that I just placed the order. I need the 8MB gyro data for my onboard video recording once I switch from analog to walksnail mini 1s.

Thanks for this video. Specifically bluejay confirms this issue in their release notes of v0.21.0 (made me feel better for disabling the protection), which I am quoting below: Temp protection is disabled by default: Since temp protection has effectively not been working for a long time (probably ever), the default is no to be disabled to prevent users from running into issues where they are "losing power". If temp protection is enabled, make sure that the "power rating" setting is set correctly and best verify via EDT and temperature readout on Betaflight, that the Temperature values are in a sane range (around 50).

FF in Inav for fixed wings is nothing but RC command.

Yeah, it's a type of Setpoint scaler. But not direct RC command. For example, in Yaw on a V-tail in some cases, you can get full throw in Manual Mode, but not in Acro, even with FF at 255. It needs more range.

@@uavtech Sure, it is a scaled RC command. By the way, don't you find weird that in INAV rates and PID gains are coupled and depend on each other? If rates are high (say, 600), you need lower PIDs. But if the rates are low enough (~60 which might be the case for big planes), to get adequate servo throw, PIDs must be set really high and may even fall even beyond 255. To me, it is unexpected and frustrating. Imho, INAV should have some fixed internel scaling for PID gains and those gains should not depend on rates.

When you mentionned the 500hz mode, was it with FLRC modulation? How can we compare ExpressLRS's FLRC modes with IRC Ghost's (latency-wise and jitter-wise.)?

I like the term control derivative, very similar to proportional, integral, derivative. What would happen if some raw command was added to the PID controller on a quad?

Ohhhhh That explains why for fixed wing after doing an auto tune FF for pitch is almost always alot higher than roll. The default rotation for pitch is alot higher than most planes are capable of so ff is really high trying to get the plane to rotate that fast. With roll however default is pretty low for most small fpv planes so autotune keeps pushing the rotation up and ff down?

Its trying to balance the max Rate value with the FF term. And it depends so much on your plane. A 3D plane has giant ailerons and so the FF might be low while the Rate is high. But a long range plane with small ailerons would have a high FF but a low rate. So the size of the control surfaces also matters. So that's why they have auto tune, there are too many variables to set these values on the bench.

Good information. I agree the autotune nomenclature in INAV is confusing. Looking at blackbox really brought home how FF works for fixedwing. FF for fixed wing in inav is basically manual flight (if you set your PID to 0. So the PIDs then sorta have manual flight guidance from FF, and adjusts it from there to meet the actual rates. Very interesting to learn about the derivative FF functionality on quads. Thanks, constantly learning from you!

Hello, How are you? I would like to have a little help with a issue with my 3" quad that I build. It has a little shake during flights, it is really quick and one-off, like, It does a little shake and then flyes ok. Then after 10-15 seconds, do It again. I thought It could be current problem so I resoldered the wires of the capacitor and It get a little better, but still have It. Is there any plataform that I can share the videos and blackbox and we could chat? I would appreciate a Lot your help! Thanks in advance and Sorry if I bother.

This video needs to be seen by all fixed wing INAV pilots. My eyes have been opened as to how crappy the INAV defaults are, especially around filters. Can confirm that these changes can yield massive results. One of the key elements to tuning these planes is also setting up the in-flight adjustments, so you can update PI and D live. That's been the best way I've found to get them dialed in. Sure, a plane will fly with the crappy defaults, but its night and day with what it can do. Thanks again for all of these insights, they are invaluable!

If the servos support a higher refresh rate like 100Hz whats then the appropriate gyro lpf cut off frequency?

as high as you can go. Depends on gyro noice. but on an electric foam plane, should be minimal. So 150hz+ should be fine.

@@uavtech unfortunately I dont have a possibility to run blackbox logging on that specific plane as I'd have to give up GPS (for a couple of flights) and first of all buy that logging device. Then once again my question even if I run a higher servos refresh rate of 100Hz instead of 50Hz in this video I'm totally fine with leaving main gyro lpf at 125Hz, right? As for now I cant take a look where the noice starts

@@uavtech Hi, one other question as I tried today to tune my plane first without blackbox and experienced when rolling left and right that my nose would pitch down after. In general one would increase pitch_i right? I went into the 20s on the i term and even then have experienced this behavior (also increased pitch_p into the 20s after didn't help either). After autotune the measured rates for r/p/y are 250/70/50 means the tiny vtail can't do much on pitch what it seems to me and could just be a limitation of the craft overall or is my assumption wrong? Any ideas to try out which come to your mind?

Air Mode didnt work on Angle mode I've tried. On my X12 Bf 4.3 Is this correct ?

in Angle Mode, you cannot do flips. Ig Motor Stop is off, motors will keep spinning on Arm to give stability, but you could be right, and Air Mode is inly active on Acro Mode. You can turn off in Config tap and trigger Air Mode as a Mode switxh to test that out.

Hey i have a problem with android it tells me that i cant open that file where the loggs are. It tells me: "Due to Android limitations, the content can only be viewed from the computer". Is there a way around or do i have to use a pc for that. On my Betaflight ( 2024-09-09 OS: Android Configurator: 10.10.0-debug-c97deaf )the blackbox logging get saved on a fixed place i cant even choose it. What can i do?

Beyond saving us from having to download new configurators, what benefit is this? I can think of MANY reasons why this is NOT good.... Edit: I see - hopefully one day the mobile app works so we can configure in the field. Hopefully BF always has an option to download a local program.

Yeah Firefox doesn't support WebUSB because there are obvious security concerns with allowing web pages access to USB devices. It could be possible to only support network devices where there's no WebUSB support l(ike the ELRS passthrough), but that's pretty niche.
