Great video. Huge thaks for sharing! I am the original owner of the same MX-1000 (I bought it in 1989) and have loved every second of music I've played through it. Any chance you could share who did the great service job on your Yamaha amp?

I only see V.R. occasonely .usually at one of our local thrift stores Ive heard there assermbly is military grade. even there speakers look good? They remind me of H.K.

I've always wondered about this and other receivers like Yamaha's CR series. What good are dial meters if you can't see the pointers on the face unless you are 2 feet away? They made them too slim and painted them black making it nearly impossible to see them from any kind of distance. In fact, it appears that the left meter isn't working at all.
@TorontoJon Жыл бұрын
The four meters are not for four channels (four speakers). The first two meters are for the left and right channels (one left speaker and one right speaker) while the third meter (barely moving, if at all, is for signal strength, and the fourth meter is for tuning, so the only two meters that should move together in synch are the ones for the left and right channels. The other two meters seem to be working correctly. I agree though that having black as a background on those meters instead of white makes it harder to read those meters from a distance. Still, it's a cool unit and at 80 watts per channel, it packs a punch that rivaled other contenders in its day.
@SinnerSince1962 Жыл бұрын
@@TorontoJon Yeah, I know that they are not for four channels. But the left-most one I mentioned IS for the speakers. Sorry if I missed seeing it move. As I mentioned, they are so slim and thin, it's make them hard to see when the backlight washes them out from behind.

You don't use it with the plastic matt cover in place - that's just to place on top of the rubber matt when it's not in use to stop dust from building up on it.
@seinfeld7142 жыл бұрын
That seems obvious since it says that on the plastic cover

My dad gave me his STA-2080 receiver around 20 years ago. I like the 2 phono options and 3 tone adjustments. Unit has remained reliable at 40 years of use. It will be an expensive fix when it finally quits working. Not many people who will work on vintage electronics anymore, so they kinda name their price.

I bought mine in new in 1980, along with a pair of Yamaha NS1000M's. It's still my favourite Amp/Speakers combination. Apart from vinyl, CD's, cassette and R2R tape, I use this combination with my Roland RD500 digital piano. I also love the 1980 catalogue of Sansui products, as it was filled with quality Hi-Fi.
