I never knew that all of the wirelessly micced soloists had completely separate pre-micced horns for their solos. Was it like that from the beginning? Most corps I've seen w/ wireless mics have the mics and transmitters on the horn for the whole show and only switch it on for their solo.
@jmbermea4 жыл бұрын
In 2018, I think the Bluecoats were still figuring out how to approach micing their soloists. I shared a “solo trumpet” with the opening and ballad trumpet soloist (same person) from the very beginning of the season. However, we had another trumpet soloist in the closer who had to mic his own trumpet in the middle of the show (which they will probably never have anyone do again since it’s pretty unintuitive). They changed the way they miced their trumpet soloists in 2019 though, and all the trumpet soloists had their mics and transmitters on their horns for the entire show. It makes holding the trumpet feel a little bulky (probably why they didn’t want to do it that way in 2018), but honestly, I could imagine that all the soloists got used to it pretty quickly.

I don't know why these videos are so interesting to me, but one day I got a random video on my recommended which was a bluecoats video. Ever sense then I every once and a while come back to watch these videos because they're so inspiring! I currently play the flute, and I'm hoping to learn something like a trumpet or a saxaphone next.
@upsidedownpyramid76174 жыл бұрын
That1Mudkip o: I would recommend something like trumpet or maybe baritone/euphonium if you want to march in a corps. Baritone, euph, and trombone are all in the same key as flute which would make it more intuitive to learn even if they are lower or in a different clef, it depends on your preference though

Yeah that makes sense. I actually got a used one from Babylon a few months back. Note: In my opinion, after seeing about every recording there is... I think the Bluecoats should have won 2018. You guys had a great year, looking forward to seeing what you do this season!

jmbermea this guys tone is so bright but I like it. Do they prefer bright tones for drum corps?
@jmbermea5 жыл бұрын
@@tanero2882 Typically, drum corps brass staffs want us to blow through the center of the horn, then they fix the sound from there. The mouthpiece I was on is a big reason why I sounded like that. Also, GoPros are terrible for picking up the actual tone of instruments.
