Can you felt in layers? for example could you do a base light layer and then put smaller details with bits of roving on and "re-felt"?

Yes, but I'd build the layers up as dry layers and felt together Or, make prefect and add that, as it will still felt into the underlying dry wool.

@@AannshaJones What is prefect? I’m hoping for example to put one color on the egg, get that even started to hold together (knowing my coordination!) Then as a few more pieces (long before it was fully felted, but after the first layer begins to hold onto itself

Great video thank you for this information. I’d like to use my homemade felt for botanical printing, as you did at the end of the video. However, my botanical printing method involves very hot simmering water. Will this affect the felt by shrinking it?

Try a test piece and see if it shrinks. The main thing with wool and/or felt that isn't cometely fulled, is to not agitate/rub/squeeze the felt when it is soaked in hot or very cold water, as that could cause it to full more I.e shrink.

Hi, the result looks nice BUT salt doesn't neutralise vinegar. You should use bicarb soda if you want to neutralise the acid.

It didn't fade much with washing at all. Wash in gentle detergent.

Thank you. You could try that. You would need to be aware not to damage the fine thin chiffon or other gauze material you are using.
