this is considering perfect alignment, you consider your hands square when moving. that first line is square if you put pressure twords the table, following that line in a cut with no backplate you are just trusting your momentum and vision, I bet its atleast a mm or 2 off.

The only way this will net you a square cut is if everything is perfect. If the blade and the table are a perfect 90, and the wood is perfectly flat. Any deviation in the wood or the table to blade alignment and you wont get a square cut. Wither way it goes, a bandsaw is not the place you want to be trying to make perfectly square cuts anyway.
