Posh English youth in the late 2000s-early 2010s in a nutshell. I would say it’s still true now to some extent. basically, after they’ve finished school, kids from wealthy background in the UK, especially the South, would not go straight off to uni or, God forbids, work, but would go off to exotic counties like those in South America, Thailand, and most of SE Asia, claiming they’re on a spiritual journey to find themselves. But it’s just an excuse to get high, get drunk and party to death. The accent is meant to be this exaggerated, obnoxiously posh accent some of them seem to have.
