Both are BIG fan of Bo Bichette and Yusei Kikuchi , I'm shocked! I remember that they used to criticize Kikuchi when he had a bad year.

Between 2012-2021 - Thirteen NHL teams lost money (in millions USD): - Florida (-195.9) - GARY BETTMAN EXPANSION TEAM - Arizona (-141.6) - GARY BETTMAN RELOCATION - NY Islanders (-132.1) - Carolina (-108.8) - GARY BETTMAN RELOCATION - Tampa (-74.4) - GARY BETTMAN EXPANSION TEAM - Buffalo (-59.9) - Anaheim (-79.6) - GARY BETTMAN EXPANSION TEAM - Columbus (-76.0) - GARY BETTMAN EXPANSION TEAM - San Jose (-13.3) - Nashville (-64.1) - GARY BETTMAN EXPANSION TEAM - Minnesota (-55.1) - GARY BETTMAN EXPANSION TEAM - St. Louis (-43.9) - Colorado (-23.5) - GARY BETTMAN RELOCATION Fun Fact: Atlanta set the NHL record for MOST MONEY lost by ANY franchise in history...$130 million losses in only 5 years between 2005-2010, but that is where Gary Bettman is dead set on returning...why is he in charge? These owners have no power, they look so weak kowtowing to his stupidity. Between 2012-2021 - every Canadian team generated revenue (in millions USD): - Montreal (+678.2) - Toronto (+634.2) - Edmonton (+139.4) - Vancouver (+215.9) - Calgary (+70.1) - Ottawa (+50.9) - Winnipeg (+4.9) Winnipeg is the smallest market in professional sports...834,678 people, using Canadian currency...and they generated 4,900,000 for the NHL...meanwhile Miami lost 195.9 million, Phoenix lost 141.6 million, Atlanta lost 130 million, Anaheim lost 79.6 million... Fun Fact: Quebec City is larger than Winnipeg. Winnipeg (834,678) Quebec City (839,311) Who would sell more season tickets? A team in Quebec City, or Atlanta/Houston/Phoenix? Why don't you hold a contest...winner who sells more tickets gets the team... If you want to generate money for the NHL long term, go to Canada...if you want t bleed money in large southern markets...by all means expand into Houston, or Phoenix again, or Atlanta a third time... How insanely stupid would you have to be to just WANT to lose money in Miami, Anaheim, Atlanta, Phoenix, Columbus, Tampa....instead of making money in Edmonton, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Quebec City...

Where's Bob and the podcast? It's been months? Bob to me is Toronto sports. I came to Toronto in 1993 and listened to him in the afternoon those days... I remember him doing a commercial with Ricky Henderson. After a morning slot he was required listening on the commute home. Always above the silliness of Maple Leaf worship and with an understanding of Toronto's place in North American sport I hope this isn't the end.

Can’t believe that after this past season, the only person to get fired, was the pitching coach! It should have been a complete ‘purge’, from the top on down!!

CFL needs to reinvent itself. It is at the same time the only major league of its sport but it feels like a minor league. It needs to attract people and interests... and there's actually a way to achieve that. Just look at UFL and MLS. What do I mean? There's demand for football in the US but there are cons: even not battling NFL, a new league has to contrast college football. The UFL (as the XFL and the USFL before) is trying to emerge with a modified rulebook. The point is that... that is weird american football. Isn't it more interesting to follow a different kind of football? Such as the Canadian one? So what's my plan? Including also rule changes to make games more engaging. 1. field goals from 50 yards or more are awarded 4 points instead of 3 2. 3 points conversion from 10-yard line 3. CFL Replay Command have the authority to overrule incorrect personal foul calls 4. Add a designated player rule for salary cap 5. Free copyright issues for players and content creators 6. Start a docureality show 7. Exclusive streaming provider 8. Trainings camps in campuses 9. Improve links with college football 10. Become kind of a development league but at the same time retirement league for the NFL 11. Links and connections with the LFA and the ELF 12. Exclusive apparel provider 13. Develop and publish an indie mobile game 14. Start a fantasy league game 15. Add a tenth team in Quebec City Doing this the league would become more entertaining to watch and would acquire viewership in both Canada and the US, being a way to showcase foreign LFA and ELF talents as well as youngsters and reserve players of the NFL. In addition, adding a designated player rule (like the MLS), teams could have superstars retiring there. Also, being small in the number of teams (10), it would also be so easy to broadcast a TV show like Drive to Survive.

There is nothing wrong with the CFL, the Argonauts simply need there own field and need to do a better job promoting. Once Toronto does there job correctly the rest will be history.

It's 'opening night' for the NHL. And no Bob McCowan podcasts. Feels strange - not in a good way. I hope you find a replacement for the (quietly) legendary John Shannon soon. Heck, I'll do it for nothing if it will help get things started sooner. I am nobody. Absolutely nobody. But I have followed Bob's broadcasts since he was doing them from Vegas. And I love sports. Just sayin'... ☮

I think Bob’s perceived hate is part of the character he developed years ago and more than not is understood as such by his guests and almost always draws out a really detailed answer and rarely a personal insult retort. Jack Armstrong would not have given such a detailed insightful analysis had Bob not come at the team so abruptly.

I came to Toronto in 1993 and immediately i learned that Bob was different. In the late 90's all the way to around 2018 prime time sports was on my commute home. I loved that Bob didnt suck up to the Leafs like most broadcasters here and that he didnt appear to take bullshit The Fan is weaker, not required listening anymore. Hope Bob can continue to do the podcast

Wow, this is big news. Bobcat had all the best sports guys by his side over the decades, and for me, John Shannon was the best. What a duo. Part of the reason Bob is/was so great is because he didnt have stiffs by his side so he could come off superior. Bob had guys by his side who might have been more entertaining, maybe more experienced in areas, more intelligent (dare I say lol) and guys who had already made a name for themselves. For me that was part of the genius of Bob. He brought in the best to give us an outstanding sports talk show. Ego in check, never felt threatened. These 2 guys gave us a ton of great sports talk over such a long period of time and showed a quality never to be duplicated, and thats a fact. There will never be another Bob McCown on our radio for sports talk in Canada and John Shannon, what can we say? As a fan, I dont think Ive ever seen a more loyal, professional and intelligent guy in that business. John always seemed like a guy you could trust and count on. I think he proved that, without having to, working with Bob for all the years. Good luck John.

Bobby Orr was a trailblazer who revolutionized the Defence position. The NHL had never seen this dynamic play before. For Hockey it was a new way of playing the position. Decades later and all other talented defenders owe Orr a debt of gratitude…4ever.

I find it odd that almost nobody wants to deal with the elephant in the room - that being virtually no Americans want to play in Canada . If we consider the Blue Jays and Raptors ( lone Canadian team in each league ) both these teams face an almost impossible situation in terms of building a championship club . History shows that virtually evert promising young player leaves ASAP when his contract allows him too . Take heart Toronto fans - there are also quite a few American cities that players are not keen to play in …….. Detroit- Cleveland- Minnesota-etc. The message here is just enjoy the games as a night out with friends and don’t obsess with championships.
