Hi, in osce either you can inform the patient that you are checking respiration so that the assessor would know what you are doing or you check pulse rate and RR together for 2 mins and then you inform the patient thatyou checked it. As long as you check RR and PR each for 1 full minute it is fine

If patient is on oxygen, first check whether the patient is having the prescribed flow rate and device and after that document the date, time, flow rate and device. If not on oxygen, no need of any documentation

@@robinjohnsda wound swab can be sent for a wound that seems to be infected. A healthy healing wound doesn’t need a swab

Hi, thank you for watching the video and i am glad that you got the answer to your question. As per the guidelines you should monitor every 12 hours if NEWS is 0. However, if the nurse decides to monitor more frequently for any reasons there is nothing wrong. I would recommend for the OSCE go according to what the guidelines say. Because there are some test centres (not all centres) who failed candidates saying the patient was monitored unnecessarily. Because of this inconsistency among the test centres, please follow the guidelines to pass the exam. Hope this helps

Hi, regarding documentation of NEWS2, i recommend to straight away complete it rather than waiting till the end of the assessment. What I have seen most of the candidates doing is not completing the documentation and later forgetting to do it. it is good if you can write the readings on the paper provided if you want to double check your NEWS2 charting. i also recommend checking it twice or thrice because documentation is very very important. hope this helps.
