Very good advice. I have Ibs almost 35 years. Diagnosis itself took 10 years.ibs s a new disease and many are not aware of it. Each person differs.so try your diet and look for effect.i am still trying. Take small amounts ie eat half full.eat regularly. Don't skip meals.you need to listen to your stomach.any discomfort after food is a sign that the food or amounts did not suit.chicken suts me well.

Way out of touch with the modern biochemistry of nutrition. For example, you discuss "cholesterol" without exploring the relationships between the various types, the ratio between Triglycerides v HDL for instance (a highly significant index of likely CVD), and merely discuss them as separate categories and ends in themselves. The old good and bad cholesterol nonsense. And relatively recent research actually shows (without qualification) that people with higher Cholesterol levels have a dramatically lower incidence of mortality from cardiovascular disease than those with lower readings. All cholesterol is NOT the same, and not good OR bad in themselves. It's in the peer reviewed academic literature (not merely KZbin raves) so don't take my word for it. Go and read it and take it into consideration for your next talk if you're serious about this stuff.

Would it not make more sense to improve the health of the digestive system instead of starving people. Sounds like a band-aid treatment which is what science based approaches are all about?

It is definitely one of the trickier diets out there. And before starting this diet, I indeed highly recommend trying various other, less invasive, strategies to improve gut health first. But for a small and carefully selected group of people, this diet can be life-changing and give back control over their gut symptoms.

I’ve been diagnosed with IBS-C. This video was very helpful!! Thank you so much. I will start with the 17 tips first and hopefully won’t have to embark on the low FODMAP diet. My dr told me to take miralax …..I’m doing that, just bloats me, so now I’m trying pills of Metamucil ….not sure if that will help or not. The gas associated with all of this has really gotten bad….definitely affecting my daily life

I just started seeing a heart doctor a little over a year ago, my cholesterol was 230, not good she wanted to put me on a staten drug, I told her to let me change up my diet and see what happens. Six months later I get checked again my cholesterol was 119, I thought that was great, she tells me my cholesterol needs to be under 100, 70, thats where it needs to be. I am suppose to get checked again on Jan 3, I am thinking about rescheduling seeing that is right after the holidays. Is it possible to get my Chol under 100?

What is the opinion about soy-based sauces and miso products besides moderation? I've stopped using them because I've been using them too much lately, but what would be the more informed paradigm since soy beans are encouraged?

Neurogastroenterology. It has mainly nothing to do with the brain in your head. It has to do with the brain in your gut. There are two brains in the human body. The Second Brain by: Dr. Michael Gershon, M.D. You can overdo exercise, maam.

Do the plant sterol supplements work? I’m vegan and already eat most of the portfolio diet inclusions but my cholesterol has risen as I age. 10 years ago it was 140 but now it’s 190 (I’m 70) I would rather not use the margarine and I don’t eat dairy. I bought a supplement to try.

Plant sterols and stanols certainly have a lot of research to suggest they work. Aim for 2g of plant sterols or stanols daily. Here is an interesting page by the British Dietetic association with further information:www.bda.uk.com/resource/food-facts-plant-stanols-and-sterols.html

In addition to eating regularly and at the same skedule, go to bed and wake up at the same time too and don't sleep throughout the morning, especially when you suffer from constipation, because your bowel movements are better in the morning. Also, eating a good amount of insoluble fiber in my breakfast when I'm having constipation symptoms, works wonders. The water intake and the exercise are crucial! A good way of increasing fiber intake and water consumption is eating soup with lots of vegetable's. These are some things that seem to make it better to manage my symptoms of constipation.
