John Deere dealer told me on my 14sb that wheel bolts need to be tightened to only 10 ft-lbs torque. You can wreck the wheels if tightened too much. So guy's take it easy with the ratchet/air gun!

I inherited the exact same one from my father. Just needs carburetor cleaned, pull start fixed + probably a new battery. Ha ha. But ive jump started it many times with car. Tires slow leak, key ignition works still i guess. Bought an aftermarket ignition. I'll find out. Have had tranny completely apart. Seems to be working fine. Put new bearings in for front tires. Automatic shut-off under seat doesn't work because it got wet. So i cut wires. New drive belt, shorter so it'll never come off, good used blade put on. Damn ive worked so much on this sob but Bottom line is i wanna keep it goin. Proud of what ive learned about it. Would love to get it bored out too. More horsepower I guess.

I know this is an old video, but I just picked up a John Deere 14SZ with a like new rear bag that the previous owner never used for $25 on a local quarter auction. The Briggs and Stratton engine runs great. He just mulched his lawn with the rear door closed. Only thing wrong is the worn out front and back wheels and I’m thinking I can fix them on the cheap. Thanks for the 411…!

This is a good unit, my wife bought me one some 20 years ago for Father’s Day, it has operated great and I have only done routine maintenance, replaced the pull cord and now I think I need to replace the pull starter. Go slowly when you’re using the vacuum, the leaves tend to bunch up in the elbow tube before it enters the bag.

Just bought one for $20. It has the bag. I have to replace the shift cable. ($12). I'm cleaning the carb, tank and replacing the fuel line. And new oil, of course. That's it. Very happy.

Stop knocking the dealer. When you need a part for "maybe" once in the life of the mower it's not worth the effort to shop for hours on end to save $5. And remember, the "web store" doesn't have it all, and you need to buy from the dealer so he/she can stay in business. If you need that part the "web store" don't have that sells for $10 ... and the dealer has closed down, all of a sudden you've got a $500 machine sitting there pretty useless for you. I own one of these mowers, selling price new ... over $1,000,00 ... and that was 20 years ago. Bought mine from a retiree moving south. If you own a premium mower, expect premium prices as their parts cost more to make.

Have you got any info on clutch adjustment? I just picked one of these up.and my clutch has about 50 percent slack and not enough tension to release the belt from the drive pully. I see where the rear end of the clutch rod where it's connected to the cotter pin is very loose and the hole is shaped oval.

Not sure why everyone on video makes such a big deal about showing the gun is unloaded? The only person at danger is the person on the video since as far as I know no one watching a video has been shot while watching it. I would assume the presenter has checked if it is loaded or not for their own safety? Or is this to cover themselves from those untight people watching who would point out that the presenter did not check if the weapon was loaded or not on the video? I know we live in a strange new world.

I have the EEJP201MBK which is the black one, the first time that I charged the battery to 100% it came up on the screen a message saying "battery overload/ disconect 12V/USB charger", following by a beep sound, after trying it again i notice that all the ports stopped working, but if i plug it back to the wall it works again, so im thinking that it pop the overload protection or maybe it burned out the input, does any one know what is the fix on the overload protection? or how to reset it to make it work again? it turns on and everything but when i turn the ports on it started beeping, so i took it to the snap on truck technitian hoping they would fixed it for me and the guy told me that they discontinued making those, that there is no fix and that nobody had ever found out how to fix them, that i had to replace the li-ion batteries and that they cost more than the engine starter itself, that it is a headache to find those batteries and that there is nothing i could do about it, but i cant believe that, there should be something to make it work again, any ideas?

if you could place the unit in a cradle, you wouldn't be chasing it all over the place..harder work than it needs to be? I am watching this as I want to trace the wiring to/from the kill switch, without having to dismantle unnecessarily.
