Go across the cracks, not with them. Go with the rings. 8lb isocore maul.
@emwoodservices19 күн бұрын
When I get a maul I’ll have to try some more on the eucalyptus haha for now it’ll get split with the hydraulics haha but I’ll split my maple ash or even some green oak with the x27 hahaha

The Champion Splitter did a good job for me when i had it, and it went through everything i tossed at it..😉👍
@emwoodservicesАй бұрын
It’s definitely going through anything I put at it. Petrified oak. Right through knots. If it busts through red gum eucalyptus it will go through any wood.

The best way to learn is practice. I would suggest stabilizing the bar some other way than one hand, and the other hand operating the file. File absolutely straight using both hands and avoid any arcing. Nice pile of wood you got going on!
@emwoodservices2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for the advice. I gotta find a way to stabilize the bar. I know I got some vices somewhere. I did a second filing on the Holzforma g660 and man it is sharp and cuts straight. 🙌🏻🙌🏻

I have split and burned a lot of leyland cypress over the years, puts out a nice smell too. My last splitter was a 27ton Champion. It was a good splitter and got me to the Wolfe Ridge..

I do like those upgrades! I think my 27 ton Champion is like 5 years old or so, I can check. I thought about get a trailer jack with larger wheel and slap that on for easier movement. Definitely a good idea to design a way to safeguard the hoses and engine, if possible. I wish I could weld :( keep cuttin'!
