Thanks for video. I have a similar drill from mid 70's where the hammer action wasn't working, which your drill doesn't have. However more than similar enough that it helps seeing what is inside. Mine has been working for the last 50 years since it was given to me new. It was totally covered in gunk, dust, and grease over everything inside. The front end is still full of grease like yours. I didn't do much more than, hopefully, fix the hammer drill function. At least I now know a little more about how it all goes together, which I didn't know before. What was that grease you used when putting it back together ? Whats in mine looks like Castrol grease ..and I read that grease tends to fly ...so was that enough grease to keep the drill working another 50 years?

I don't like this type of restoration. Yes, it looks spectacular and very interesting, but in this way you destroy an item of historical value. Such items only need to be cleaned and preserved so that they can be later displayed in a museum. When you do a comprehensive renovation, such an item is no different from modern replicas.

You didn't need to make a key remover, the keyboard box itself says it had a key remover.

Why would you gold eaf the handle to the. Omly put ot in resin later? Dosnt that defeat the purpose of gold leafing it...? It also seems like whatever gold leaf you would be able to see got sanded off?

i bet the people who made all of these things would be very happy to know that their creations are being handled and repaired with such care, even having new parts be created by hand so they can return to their purpose. what a lovely thing!
