I was recommended this video by a friend his hope was for me to see why the cringe elves belong in the Horde. After watching it in it's entirety I remain unconvinced. Elves have never and will never belong in the Horde, I will take that belief to the grave with me and refuse to play with anyone who plays an elf.

Any chance you plan to support VR for Starship Simulator? I came here specifically hoping to find info regarding that. Im used to having to make VR workon my ownas well, but I'm assuming they're will be some sort of anticheat in place eventually which will necessitate making it possible on yourside of the files so we don't get flagged with vorpx, reshade, or any other file hooking software. Either way, I must applaud you for your efforts, the same is looking fantastic and as promising as ever and from one indie dev to another, who's been toiling away in the background for years on projects that have yet to see the light of day, I'm really happy for you and the exposure you're getting. :D
@StarshipSimulator Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words :) Yes, we have every intention of adding VR at some point. The in-game UI panels are already designed with VR in mind. We won't be blocking VorpX or Reshade :)

The original video that this video was a response to was the video that got me to buy and play World of Warcraft back in 2008. Even to this day, every time I resub to WoW (which is pretty consistently), I literally always remember that video. Whenever I level an alt, I still choose to level through the TBC expansion because the image of Terokkar Forest from that video, with Teardrop by Massive Attack playing in the background, is burned into my memory. Unfortunately, it's no longer around, assuming because of copyright issues with the song. But I found it on wayback machine (only 1 single capture, as recently as 2021 when it was already delisted), and was able to watch the video again! And using the original link to try and access the video, it looks like the video is privated and not deleted like I thought. OP if you're still reading comments on your videos -- First, I want you to know that some stranger still regularly thinks about a random video you uploaded 15 years ago, and it's because of you that I've spent so many years playing this game on and off. Second, it'd be sick if you managed to reupload that video somewhere else. It's honestly a really cool piece of WoW history.

Thanks for this great comment, I am still around, but I'm busy making my own game these days (Starship Simulator on Steam). Luckily my original video is still around, and it was originally blocked because of the music, but I've set it to unlisted. Hey, so I’m really interested in your game and I have some questions. 1) What is the core gameplay loop of the game? What I mean is that I know it’s to explore, but how do you plan on enticing the player to keep playing? Do you plan on rewarding the player for discoveries, then they can turn around and use that money to buy new tech, weapons, supplies, train crew, etc? 2) is this game inspired by No Man’s Sky? Because it seems like it borrows some design choices like a procedural galaxy of immense size, as well as have a dominant exploration focus. 3). How long will this game be in development for? Will there be an alpha or beta that players can either register for, or pay to get into to? 4) Is the game going to focus on other aspects like trading, combat (either ship to ship, boarding, or destroying pirate or merc bases for example to gain reputation and make advanced civilizations you discover happy). I am definitely looking forwards to this game, it may end up shaking up and Changing the face of space simulator like games for the future. I hope you will respond as this video is over a year old. I would really like to know more so I can maybe tell a few of my friends, or help spread word of features and such.
@StarshipSimulator2 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks :) 1) We now have a 1:1 scale procedural galaxy that you can explore seamlessly in real time, similar to Space Engine or Elite. The player ship(s) are also fully simulated, with some mild survival mechanics, so you'll need to refuel and maintain all the systems in order to keep flying. Exploring the galaxy is really the beginning of the gameplay loop, because what you find will determine the type of gameplay that happens. For example, you could bring up a contaminated sample from a planet which results in a bug-hunt around the ship, and every alien race you encounter will have their own unique personality. Some will be friendly, others not so much. The ultimate goal is to keep the ship and crew in one piece while making as many successful first contacts as possible. You'll be able to upgrade ship components individually by researching materials and hardware that you discover on your travels. 2) The game is largely inspired by classic science fiction, the Elite series, Space Engine, No Man's Sky and Star Citizen. We aim to combine the galaxy of Space Engine with the scientific realism of Elite, the procedural generation of No Man's Sky and the ship interiors of Star Citizen. Sounds ambitious, but we're making a lot of progress :) 3) We're planning to have a playable demo out before October (We're in Steam Next Fest), and right now our Patreon backers can access live development builds. We're hoping to release publicly under Early Access sometime in 2023. 4) The premise of the game is that this is mankind's first ever deep space exploration mission. Once you leave Sol you are on your own, so there won't be a human trade network of any kind. You will be able to gain favour with alien races by helping them out, and in return they will share knowledge/technology. Ship-to-ship combat will be about keeping firing arcs on target while angling the ship's delicate parts away from enemy fire. You will also be able to explore/loot alien derelicts, and fend off ship intruders. Our main KZbin channel has more videos (kzbin.info), and if you're interested I would highly recommend joining our Discord, where you can see daily progress :) discord.gg/eDSQvpgdUX

We're releasing the base sandbox for free, with some paid DLC's planned a bit further down the line. Right now the game requires 4GB of VRAM, but that figure will come down as we optimise over time.

I was thinking of going for engineering, but I don't appreciate all the repair work I'm going to be doing on that particular ship. XD
@tommargarites28113 жыл бұрын
You have to keep in mind that the people who design these sets, do so for a movie, or tv show. In order to make it right, you would have to upscale the size of the ship somewhat to accommodate the blueprint. As a suggestion, when working on the mainhull (saucer section), of the ship. use the top of the 'dip' where it is flat as where you have deck 7, raise the saucer somewhat to accomodate deck 6 and the areas below the deck 7 be a utility crawlway. Just a thought. Otherwise you'll be likely pulling out hair trying to fit everything to the plans which are flawed, nice, but flawed.
