I constantly think about trying to move the engaging levers under the handle grips. I have arthritis and working them the way they are is really tough on me

So much strain on that small transmission. I mean, ..sure it will pull your weight, but it's definitely gonna take its toll. And the heavier the person, the more strain

There was a brief shot of the tachometer lower right side of the console which tells me this is not a 1949 8N rather a 1952 8N, the only year Ford had a tachometer on the 8N series before going to the NAA/Jubilee and later powermaster/workmaster. I have rebuilt several of these. Nice set up

It looks like a real nice idea the downfall is your friction disc is going to where it wasn’t made to pull excessive weight so you might wind up replacing your friction wheel

Looks great for large areas but you didn’t show yourself turning around. That could be a pain in tighter spaces

Bought this for my small back deck in the Eastern Sierra. kzbin.infoUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN We get A LOT of HEAVY snow so I was a bit skeptical but it was worth it! After the first storm of the year this has exceeded expectations! It throws snow very well, even 10-12” + that said the more it piles up the harder it is to maneuver the machine. It is exceptionally light weight and overall exactly what I was looking for. If you have a large amount of snow and a lot of area to clear, you may consider something with a drive engine to help maneuverability, but for decks, second stories, roofs etc, you can’t beat the light weight to great snow throwing ratio. Side note, the chute rotator is a bit flimsy and it initially didn’t seem to work, after a few uses it seems to have loosened up.

With the added weight to haul around, the snowblower must be burning rubber on those friction disks at 100x the speed of normal wear... it probably slips constantly while moving. The various bearings and bushings are also taking a beating, plus the small engine is being extra taxed needlessly. Cool proof of concept, but these were never designed to be tractors.

I saw on another video where a guy installed a belt driven hydraulic pump to his motor…..similar to a power steering pump. I have a ford 800 with a heavy loader on it and it uses the front mounted hydraulic pump. I might try to rebuild the loader to a lighter version. At the very least I am going to put a counter weight on the 3 point hitch.

After viewing your video, I went out and with a few wheels and some steel tubing I made oneof those similar to yours. It actually works very well but is boring just sitting behind the blower. I guess I found that walking behind my blower is better for the exercise anyway. I'f my driveway were longer (it's only a 1/4 mile) I'd probably use it more. I'll just park it back in cold storage for when I get old (I'm only 70 now)

Well, this wont work on all driveways, and the extra weight to lug around will wear on the drive-belt, clutch and flywheels.

Needs to have a salt spreader add on the back and then you can plow and salt at the same time.
