It’s not the Trailer causing the problem. They likely have too much weight in the back of the Trailer causing the rear end of the Tow Vehicle to be lifted slightly and lose traction.

Needs to slow waaay down and use a hitch height that makes the tow vehicle and trailer level.

I just drove from Texas to Florida with my car vehicle towed behind and I did NOT feel comfortable going above 65 which I thought might be pushing it as it is. One of the most stressful situations thus far

That trailer is overloaded to the rear of those two axles. The trailer clearly says on the sided, to load 60% of the weight to the front and 40% to the back.

Idiot driver driving to fast towing a trailer.... I'd be surprised if they don't wreck.... trailer speed is 50... Now think about it does anyone think that trailer tires are balanced for High speed driving???? no, up 50 mph is all.... duh....

It's not the trailer. I drove a 6x12 u-haul 880 miles from CA to Idaho with a Jeep Grand Cherokee in high winds up 395. 60/40 rule. Trailer was as stable as it gets. This guy probably had his blankets and pillows in front of the axles and concrete blocks and bags of cement behind the axles. Idiot.

towed a 76 Jeep J10 pick total weight with uhaul was 6400lbs.. towed it with my 90 Jeep Grand wagoneer, proper weight distribution helps also i had the engine bay of the truck in the front, and i also had weight in the back of my Jeep, i went 65-70 in it and no issues, but i mainly stayed at 55 even in a 70 just in case

The rims had nothing to do with that trailer's positive oscillating sway, and the speed was at must an aggregating factor. That type of destabilization can't be caused by a number of factors, 1 of which I know is an issue here, and another I am assessing. First, the trailer is not properly leveled, he needs a pretty sizable step up from the looks of it. Leveling a trailer is critical with any trailer, however this criticality is amplified when you start adding axles beyond a single one. In the configuration this guy is in, the front trailer axle is supporting more of the trailer's weight than the rear axle. This results in a greater force being applied to those two tires, while the tires of the aft axles are riding with much less downward force. With a dynamic scenario like this, what results is that in every axis, all the forces being applied to each axle, vertical (downward), lateral (side to side), and longitudinal (forwards and back) are not symmetric, thus resulting in differential dynamic loading, which is a great way to destabilize any type of dynamic system. The swaying isn't caused by this type of imbalance, sway is an unavoidable factor inherent to a towing configuration when the powered vehicle is forward of the unpowered vehicle. What this type of unbalanced setup does result in is a condition of positive dynamic instability. What that means is if a lateral force is momentarily introduced to the unpowered vehicle being towed, which occurs in perpetuity , it will induce a sideways motion in the direction of the force, the sway, at which point the imbalance existing between the tires of the front axle and those of the rear becomes relevant. I won't go step by step because this post is already a book, suffice to say instead of this sway getting dampened down after a few oscillations, as it does when balanced, they sway oscillations are aggravated by the imbalance, resulting in the oscillations of that lateral sway which increase in magnitude with every oscillation. That's what defines a dynamic instability as positive, when the tendency for the resulting destabilization of a system to increase in magnitude unless another force is introduced to inhibit the oscillations. This looks and sounds like harmonic resonance to many, which is very much a part of this situation, but it's far more complex with far more forces at play. The first is known, however the second is conjecture based on experience. Even with a trailer properly leveled, if the load was positioned inside the trailer in such a way that it doesn't place the majority of the weight directly above the axle, or at the center between multiple axles, it can easily destabilize the setup. While putting more weight forward of the axles, which increases the tongue weight applied to the hitch and has implications with the powered tow vehicle handling characteristics, is a bad idea, loading most of the weight aft of the axle(s) is exponentially worse. The further aft of the trailers' axles the majority of the load weight is located, the greater the instability becomes by virtue of the increasing leverage the destabilizing forces have on the rest of the setup. A unbalanced load with the weight too far forward will result in an incredibly uncomfortable ride which feels like it's surging over and over. With the weight loaded too far aft of the axles, the increasing oscillating sway motion, each slightly greater than the previous, is almost guaranteed to end in an accident and/or roll over. I suspect whatever this guy had in that trailer was either loaded with a significantly front heavy condition or a minor aft heavy condition. You notice how the oscillations in the sway tend to dampen with time? If he were any more aft heavy, that vehicle would have experienced a roll-over without any means of mitigation unless he caught it VERY early and was able to accelerate enough to dampen the oscillations.

Thats not the death sway, just bad tire allignment on the Uhaul. Death sway is uncontrollable. Little utility trailers like that always sway a little, normally because one tire is slightly lower then the other one or sometimes just wind.
