The Wii had Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games and that, with the winter games, has to be the most memorable gaming sessions I had with my brother and my friend back then. It was also so gooffy. The way to run fast in Wii games was to flail your arms in front of you and it is simultaneously very intuitive and ridiculous when you think about it. The way Mario Galaxy implemented a thing to do for Player 2 even if they had no character was pretty smart too. You could freeze enemies, collect crystal thingies and shoot them. You were essentially playing another type of game altogether, while still playing with your friend. ^^

Funnily enough, I grew more fond of those "little sibling mode" kinda multiplayer modes, like Galaxy's. As a kid, I thought it made no sense, but as I get older and sometimes feel fine with just vibing without interacting too much, just being a lil' bit helpful is fine enough.

SEGA should study those and rethink their approach to 2D Sonic games with coop multiplayer included. The "little buddy mode" in Sonic 2 and 3 was super cool half of the time and super frustrating the other half, and Superstar just found a middle ground where it is both at once AND confusing.

Even if many people call the Wii a retro device in 2024/2025, that's still weird to me. My memories are that I actually enjoyed a fair amount of content on the WiiWare section of the Wii Shop Channel such as Cave Story and games made by Shin'en (FAST Racing being one of their games). I didn't had a lot of games on it tbh I wasn't able to afford physical games. (of course I had Mario Kart with it and that thing called Wii Fit plus lol) There was the appearance of the homebrew channel too. =) I was quite ashamed tho, so... no games with it. That's why my friends gave me some games to play together, but then why not just play them at their home instead lmao. Then I could afford for more physical games on the Wii U. Also, the Wii U had perfect compatibility with Wii games, which ofc that made the Wii U a perfect console system for me :). I kept the Wii console to do some hacking with it tho, as it was still fun back in the day. Now with Reconnect24 being a thing, it's pretty common to use homebrew anyway. I guess homebrew becoming common makes the "Wii console is retro" argument, but honestly? IS Wii U retro then? That's why i'm still not considering the Wii as a retro device ! (BTW you can bring back old channels with Reconnect24!) As for the Switch, I had poor interest for it, maybe with the Switch 2 though.

Even if you didn't use games with it, the Homebrew Channel at least had a banger music, haha. I wonder how much people use Reconnect24 ? I still have a Wii sitting right here for my Gamecube games, so I'm curious to try and use it more ... I'm curious to hear why the Switch didn't catch your interest, though, if you don't mind ? :o

I think the best way I got recommended a game without spoilers was DDLC actually, through Game Theory's first video on it. I can't remember exactly how they did it, but it was along the lines "this game is really good, there is so much to talk about it, but it is better experienced blind". And I decided to go play that game and take it seriously. I don't think I would have gotten into it without that, nor would I had experienced it this way. Those hidden gems that you can't recommend, I think you should just say "there is more to it than what meets the eyes". And if you get recommended such a thing, take the game seriously. The issue is... that sounds like a cheatcode to recommend dogshit games too. It is a bit of the game's job to hint at its deepness or the fact that there is gonna be a big turnabout at some point. DDLC did this with their content warning anouncement. Until you are met with such content, you know you are not seeing the whole picture. ISAT did it with its intro scene. Until you know what that scene represents, you know there is something pivotal you have not understood yet. Those things do not spoil anything of the game. It is just a thought that lingers in your mind "...wait why was there this in the beginning then". Again, that could be a cheatcode for dogshit games. A weird thingy in the beginning that is never explained leads you to get engaged for nothing? Very bad. But the combo of the two - a weird hint that takes ages to make sense, and a friend that tells you this game is a gem - looks very promising to me. ;)

I think it's a very good take, yeah ! Wild comparison, but I know FNAF started a whole hype about "hidden lore" and helped make wayy stronger the culture of internet theories. It's reached a point where you really, REALLY need to have some impeccable fucking execution to pull out those things ; I don't ever want to relive the absolute mess that was the FNAF4 box witchhunt. Yet at the same time ... Personally speaking, I know I can be a little apprehensive towards games of genres I'm not really fond of. That's why them mere fact that DDLC was even suggested to me by a friend was that "weird hint", in itself, for me.

Honestly, I think I don't have that exact POV about GV3, but mostly cause I was a new player discovering all of those games in a row. I assume that long time fans have a very, very different point of view when it comes to a few things GV3 does ...

Nice video. Though I wanna say, maybe you should try going for ranks at some point. Soooo I’m kinda the resident score attacking nerd lol. I’m kinda biased. But still, when analyzing and criticizing the series, I think it’s very important to look at it through the lens of score attacking. For example, Gunvolt 3’s development woes are largely because they couldn’t find a way to make melee gameplay truly interesting to score. Or how iX2 warped itself around the Razor Wheel and virtually every change was to prop it up for scoring. I’ll also say, longer time fans are gravitating away from iX 1 for a variety of reasons. A big reason is again scoring, partly because Copen is a very shallow scoring character, but also because Copen had the most scoring depth in Gunvolt 2. I could go on for a while so I’ll just stop here. 😅 I don’t wanna just tell people what to think, yaknow? Just thought you could use a little crash course on it if you’re gonna keep making GV videos.

Don't worry about "telling me what to think", part of the reason why I make those videos is literally to hear other people's pov after exposing mine ! For example, since I don't really care about scoring, most of the difference I've perceived between GV2 and iX1 Copen were just "oh, I can indefinitely maintain hover now", so it's interesting to see I've missed quite a few things ! That being said, I think I can look more into mechanics and see if i'm more interested in trying score-based runs. GV3 actually made me get interested into perfecting stage runs because of the Special GV ranks and D-Nizer, and hey, that was actually a lot of fun ! So I *can* get interested in it, definitely. It just didn't happen until I've reached. the end of the series opakdoapzkd

Nice video! Glad to know you liked both GV1 and iX1, that's pretty much how people, including myself, get into GV, they get hooked on by 'Megaman spiritual successor' and then stay because of its unique features, I'll say i do miss the variety in gimmicks central to advancing stages using GV's Septima in future games, will definitely stick around for more videos! (Btw just a little nitpick, "iX" is pronounced as 'icks' not 'ai ecks'

Thank you for the kind words ! GV1 deffo uses GV's kit the most creatively, but I feel like this is due to GV2 sharing the spotlight with Copen, and GV3 outright giving it to Kirin instead. Oops for the pronunciation ! My french ass couldn't figure out whether it was "icks" or "i x", and thought "hey, the X is in capital letters, it's probably pronunced separately." Will know for next time, thanks !

It's true that Sonic 06 erased itself from the timeline, but it that doesn't mean it didn't "happen". I kinda see it like you making a notepad file, and then you drop it in the recycle bin. Yeah, the notepad is *"deleted", but that doesn't mean it "never" existed in the first place. And with White Space essentially being like the recycle bin of time, Crisis City and now Kingdom Valley are still accessible because it still exists, albeit in an erased timeline. Even in Sonic Generations, talking to Blaze has her comment that there's something weirdly familiar about Crisis City. None of the characters "remember" Sonic 06 because its events were *erased*, but it still "happened". Either way, very much looking forward to both the next animation and the game itself!

Usually, the right path is the one with the most rings, or after the transparent circles. Avoid the UPs/DOWNs if you can as they make the stage change speed, which isn't that helpful and will most likely put you off. If you need to stall for time, find a spot with an R and an angle you can stay at, and change stage rotation a few times while you think. If you play on Origins, coins in Anniversary mode allows you to restart the current stage after you fail. If you play on Mobile, you can restart in exchange for a live if you go to the pause menu. Most useful piece of advice is probably to try and look up a map or video online, and memorize the stage.

luckily for me I used to play this game a lot on my old ShatGames firecore (such a kickass name for such a shoddy emulator) so I kinda know the stages by heart. Also, for some reason, despite me growing up with NTSC, I like playing the games on a PAL system. (I might get a PAL Mega Drive even though I already have a Genesis II.) By the way, hot take, but I actually liked Labyrinth Zone. I found it fun. Scrap Brain act three was also fun too for me. (Although the bubble generators kind of taunt you by giving you a bubble right before sonic drowns.) Marble Zone was also kind of fun too. (Given, I have beaten Super Mario Bros, and The Lost Levels so I like precise platforming)
