I had a 1494 up until about 4 years ago. Nice to see them still working! To keep your mouldboards from rusting, put a coat of grease or undercoating oil on them when you're finished for the season. Works on mine👍

Those old DB’s were super good tractors!!..I saw a white coloured 1694 almost 30 years ago in a guys yard who clearly logged with it…it had a factory loader and no cab…and she was rough…not sure if had been sold from a dealer locally or if it go shipped in from abroad but it was a sight to see!..
@macfarmsАй бұрын
Guessing maybe a 1690? I've seen a few cabless 1690's and 1594's in both 2wd and 4wd but I don't think there was any cabless 1694's, they never sold them over here at least but who knows. The whole top half of the cabs do unbolt and come off of the 94 series tractors too.
@MrMan5014Ай бұрын
Nice old 1594…not many of them around anymore!…they had a super tough engine!..they’re basically an old David Brown…I remember seeing at the dealer when they brand new back in the mid to late 80’s…I always thought they were unique because they were the only tractors that I could remember that came with tinted windows from the factory…those are some good size fields you’re plowing..to bad you couldn’t find yourself a good rollover plow to help speed things up a bit!..great video!
@macfarmsАй бұрын
Yes they are all DB, the 1594 being the last built at Meltham actually. That tinted glass is hard to get now, all of the new replacement stuff has a green tinge to it instead of the grey/brown tint, so used it really the only option. I'd love to have a rollover plough, there is a 3f KV here local that needs some work, basically all the mouldboards and other wear parts need replacing on it, but the dealer that has it thinks it's gold. It's a bit small anyway, would suit my 1394 well I think but I'd like a 4 furrow for the 1594. I did find a 4f Dowdeswell DP7 I got pretty excited about but it was just shear bolt trip on it no spring reset and that wont work here haha.

Great one Scott. Ya, jumpins November was a wet month. Sideways rain for two weeks here. Nasty size rocks there , I bet you’ve broken a few points over the years. The rock relief springs were doing their job. Nice to have that bit of float on the top point. My Ferguson with the two 10” plows would be having a lot of difficulties plowing there. Have a great week. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋
@macfarmsАй бұрын
Yeah couple wet weeks but it's been great weather before that. Hard to complain really. I'd say the rocks have claimed a few points over the years but they are pretty tough. I don't know how they got on without the spring reset years ago, I don't think the plough we had before this had any reset at all. It was a Kverneland too 2+1 14". They pulled it as a two bottom behind the 885 DB then later as a 3 behind the MF 375, 255 etc. Thanks for watching Noel.

Hi, I have the opportunity to buy a 885 but a Case. Exactly like yours but without the name David Brown on hood sides. I suppose it's a 1977 or in that era. I think I told you I already own a 1967 Selectamatic 880. All restored but the transmission is a bit noisy. The 885 is in very good shape and not expensive. Can you tell me more about 12 speed semi synchro transmission ? Is just a test drive will be enough to see if I'm putting myself in trouble ? Or not ? IF it's noisy, I will let go. Don't want to end up having problems like the 880. I'm not using my tractors for work. Big toys ! Thanks.
@macfarmsАй бұрын
This 885 is the same, no mention of DB anywhere on it other than the data plate and the tachometer. The synchomesh 885's we have had are both quiet other than in road gear but that is more final drive noise I think than actual transmission. They shift quite smooth, I think 1-2, 2-3 and 3-2 are all synchronized but 2-1 is not if memory serves. Even though not synchronized I have noticed they seem shift quite smoothly from forward to reverse gears. I quite like the 2 stick synchromesh. I think when they went to the 3 stick on the 90/94 series it was a step backwards.
@lucgagnon5241Ай бұрын
@macfarms Hi. Many many thanks for answering. Well, the tractor I was looking for needs too much love to be mine. I want it mint condition at the end of the process and it was too far to put money in the project. I will wait and see. Those tractors are a pain in the ass when it comes to noise. I thought I had fixed the problem on my Selectamatic 880 by adjusting both final drives last summer... Not even close. The transmission is noisy. And even if I put $$$ in it, it may still be noisy at the end too so I'm in thinking process. I've putted gear oil 80/90 and additive in it and 140 in final drives. For the moment, that's the best I can do. I would like a 885 but I will buy only if it's closer to no noise. When I was a kid, I noticed that there was a noise when sitting on it on the road. But today, it's not noisy for me... it's annoying. Regards.

Hi mate I have a land with some big limestone rocks. I am planning to buy a MF 1135 with a bucket. Do you think it could do the job ? Is the power enough
@macfarms2 ай бұрын
It would do the job, but I couldn't think of a worse tractor to put a loader on. The shifter on the dash would be pretty clumsy to operate, they are tough to get between forward and reverse at the best of times. A lot of them didn't have diff lock either. As far as size goes they are 130hp and around 12,000lbs if I remember right, the 3070 in this video would be about 80hp and 10,000lbs.

We were talking about putting a stationary mixer in at the time, so we didn't really consider buying the tmr cart. But then we didn't end up putting a stationary mixer in either lol just the way it goes sometimes, I guess.

Yeah thats what I've noticed, when we had all that down corn it was barely feeding anything through it and the cut was really long then. I think they are meant to be run close to capacity.
