Doesn’t this have a center diff??
@NPCRC13 күн бұрын
Yes, it has a center diff that is in the rear of the truck, attached to a diff pinion, for distribution right to the rear diff. When it was released, our rep said it had a slipper in it. When the v2 came out, I saw one apart and saw the diff. Figured then it was a v2 thing ut after more review, the v1 and v2 had very little different. So yes, plastic gear on it, but does have 3 diffs!
@Boombastick1715 күн бұрын
Great video :). However, it is indeed correct that adding thicker oil to the front actually improves steering as it emulates the effects of a locked differential. In fact, this is even more so the case with a set up such as yours, where the centre differential is pretty much locked for all intended purposes. In this context, using lighter oil in the rear calms down the rear end a bit, thanks to the lesser traction. This allows the front end to drag the car out of the corner, with the rear end following. Keep them videos coming bro :)!

The website is no longer up. I was Redcatdealer(.com) and did not want to keep that domain since expanding even further, with Horizon and some other companies. I also opened a shop locally now and have been a little too busy to focus on the online side of things of late. I do plan on going live with a new site in the near future but until then, most of my regulars either call in, Facebook message me or email me quote requests. I, always ,will be less then retail and I also still do breakdowns and other custome things I use to have. Feel free to reach out anytime. Just my opinion, but those small ramps do tend to kick up the rear end on larger vehicles.
@NPCRC2 ай бұрын
Small ramps are definitely not ideal for this thing but to be fair the only reason we're testing with this ramp is because it is more flat and helps expose the issue more. Also, the higher arched ramp is more dangerous until we got this issue figured out. In the previous video, we were on a larger jump and the issue was there and more dramatic. Just wanted to keep it simple for test troubleshooting purposes.

Don't hangout where the ramp leads, and use a different ramp for a few minutes. Both parties......
@NPCRC2 ай бұрын
It always looks like there's plenty of room to bang out a jump and not be near anybody but even with all of that space the truck still is like a magnet. Especially if I jump towards myself. Almost took myself out a couple times too. All good times though...

@NPCRC oh no doubt that accidents happen. But both sides could have done something better, and didn't.
@NPCRC2 ай бұрын
@cosmicslushynetwork there's a third one as well and things were done better. We were both standing on the side of the building and the truck came off the ramp sideways and I just set it down on the ground instead of trying to save it and ride it out which would have hit one of us. I'll still be on top of the hill next bash session launching them to get a good viewing angle...lol You either have to stand in front of the ramp or in back of the ramp to be able to hit them accurately with any kind of speed... Grass was a little tall on this session and was altering the way the approach to the ramp was, which is why it happened a couple times here. All was good though.... we all had fun and a good laugh!

1100kv is not fast enough with the gearing options
@NPCRC2 ай бұрын
I agree, considering we started with the stock gearing to be able to compare vs the motor set up which is 1250kv. 20T is the largest i hear we can go with the cover still fitting. We plan on getting there but the issue we were having is more then just gearing and KV. I am seeing others put the 800kv motor in and not complaining about the nose being heavy though. This video gave us some hope with getting the wheelies back so now we will upgear some and change the tires. May be good to go after that but will probably see how big of a pinion the mount can take and figure out the cover later, to get more out of it!
@rantsandreviews2 ай бұрын
My Vigilante is a tad nose heavy but is super easy to control. The tiniest blip on the throttle keeps it nice and level. The big boys jump and handle different than the 1:8 and 1:10 stuff. From what I saw in this video whoever the "driver" was just needs some practice. Your never going to be able to properly diagnose any alleged defects without a competent driver.
@NPCRC2 ай бұрын
LOL.. So it LOOKS like that and some jumps were off the mark but we BOTH have driven it, hit the ramps GOOD and had the issue arise. The video after this, we actually get some wheelies back and the only thing we did was repair the diff that was already missing a tooth but got finished off in this video. I promise, the driver was not the issue for what we are seeing here, or at least the reason we are talking about it. There was something off but it is a little better now and now we can continue with tires and pinon change to get the most out of it. But I DO agree, the truck drives and handles just fine with stock set up, but we had a bad motor which led to an early upgrade... so we had to change it while waiting for replacement. Just ran into issues we were seeing when the motor was failing. Could have been the diff we were noticing all along... More to come.. TY for the feedback!!!

@NPCRC2 ай бұрын
Yeah that's the next thing we try! SHould see how that goes by tomorrow. We definitely had issues... the video I have posting today, we swapped back to the new stock motor and part of our issue may have been the rear diff that was missing a tooth for a few runs. We had better results in it, but still not what we would like to have, but progress! Ty for the feedback!
@smoothwookienookie59122 ай бұрын
Did you put bigger tires on it? Bigger pinion? I would've tried both of those before a huge motor. Or even lowering the front shock springs so it's not dipping down on launch. Between that and the shallow angle on that little jump I'm not surprised it's not getting rotation.
@NPCRC2 ай бұрын
So we're comparing what we know the vehicle can do with what we also see other people being able to do online with the stock tires which is why we didn't go after the tires right away. The motor was done because the last one had an issue which I covered in one of the videos, so we wanted to put something bigger in from the get-go and it gave us a perfect opportunity. We've got a larger pinion for it but we wanted to go back to stock gearing for the first run on the new Castle. We've had it on bigger ramps and it is still nose heavy and doesn't want to get around and we've pulled back flips off with this truck before. The pinion and the tires are the next thing we address as we did get some improvement in our next video, which should post tomorrow. Maybe by the time we get to the next video we'll have the other tires and a larger pinion on as well.

@@NPCRC I'm surprised they used cheap metal many are blowing rear diffs, rc car garage did, and the center diff case over heats and warps.
@NPCRC2 ай бұрын
@rccarsandmusic2641 we haven't had any issues with the center yet but the rear was damaged early on and did pretty well considering it had a broken tooth, through the next few runs. We will monitor it and keep an eye on it ourselves but we haven't seen anything to make us think it's a reoccurring issue. I did watch RC garage damages, but I never saw the follow-up to see if it happened back-to-back on him and if so, I doubt that it was all just the diff gears. I think maybe he put something on wrong or didn't get it cleaned out and something else got in there and ate up the gears.... possibly

Thicker fluid in the front/ thinner in the rear will help it turn better during acceleration. If you drive and turn around without using the throttle then it’s okay but I don’t know many people that turn not using the throttle. It will plow with the heavier weight in the front, as I’m seeing in the video
@NPCRC2 ай бұрын
For a racing set up this would be better suited I believe... On a basher, I want my 2 rear tires spinning at the same rate. With thinner oils (Anything under 80K) I notice a "waddle walk" when trying to ride a wheelie and also inconsistent launches of ramps when not hitting it straight on. 100K is what I normally put in my trucks but with the larger 5th scale, the owner wanted to put something heavier in the rear for the extra torque the truck has. Outside of racing, I never go thicker in front then rear because I don't like the way the trucks will turn with thicker oils in the front... thicker then, lets say, 100K.
@WildBoyRC2 ай бұрын
Right on, yeah it all depends on the persons driving, I love my 6s rigs with 60k front and 20k rear, and either 500k to 20M center for fast turns, big jumps, hard corners and all around fun.

@@WildBoyRC I would say we are the same on 6S trucks except the rear... that waddle walk has messed me up alot when trying to ride wheelies. With that thick in the center, it keeps the power more even F and R so it makes the diff oils more noticable if you get up on one wheel more then another in the rear... and if your at and angle on ramp launches... IMO
