The Catskill Mountain Railroad has been working to reopen the tracks between Kingston and the Ashokan Reservoir for their train rides. Currently they are only allowed as far as Route 28A in Stony Hollow, and hope that the county will permit them to someday soon reach the reservoir so they can bring trail riders directly up from Kingston Plaza to the Woodstock Dike Trailhead. This would greatly benefit the trail as it would allow people to leave their car behind and take the train, thus greatly reducing congestion at the reservoir and the Woodstock Dike Trailhead in particular during the busy summer and fall months. Visitors and locals alike need to let the Ulster County government, who owns the right of way the tracks sit on outside of the Ashokan Reservoir, and the NYCDEP, who owns the Ashokan Reservoir lands, know that they want to see train service extended to the Woodstock Dike so it can be used to carry trail riders to and from the trail. The railroad has tried convincing Ulster County for years to allow them to reopen the tracks to the reservoir and beyond, but sadly to no avail. However, to also get the trail community to back getting the train to the reservoir might just be what convinces Ulster County to permit the railroad their extension to the Woodstock Dike.

Well put. The removal of the rails was a criminal act.

Looked like a hater @ 3:20 other than that this is a really nice well kept trail by the looks of it!

We were enjoying the trail at a leisurely pace, he seems to have been in a rush. All good, it was still a magical day! 🥾

Thank you for sharing wonderful hiking footage of Harriman State Park. Harriman State Park is my favorite place to hike. It is great to find a fellow hiker and KZbinr sharing the same passion.

Since you used different soaps, you invalidated your test. You definitely had the option of using the same soap for both washes. It's not only 'not scientific', it's just plain irrelevant.

Thank you for the comparison! I cannot afford a Scrubba, but definitely can get a zip lock. :)

Why waste $60 on a scrubba? Instead buy a dry bag for around $20, grab a plastic soap holder (the kind with nubbies on it) at the dollar store and you're good to go for a fraction of the cost! Toss the soap holder into the bag with clothes, and a few drops of soap and scrub for a few minutes. You don't even need the soap holder if the clothes aren't heavily soiled.

Wtf why would you not use the same soap?
@lisaw82026 жыл бұрын
To compare 2 washing bags, everything else should remain identical but the bag- same soap, same quantity of water, time, everything. True we need yo add scrubbing bumps into the ziplock- bumpy dog ball, foot massage ball, possibly mesh laundry bag will act as scrubber

You have to add more water to it, all you are doing is spreading the dirt through the sock. add a whole container of water, do your 3 minutes , then you drain and do it again to rinse the loosened dirt off the sock. The soap is the agent that allows it to slip off the threads and into the rinse water.
