That huge tentacle comes under the door and you can see ollies face saying dave were fighting a losing battle. They could've all three been killed teying to save him. Sorry to say they dis the right thing needless to say how bad it was for norm. Probably getting skinned alive before being devoured by some big gross nasty beast.

Whats freaky also is the fact that the tentacle just touches him and takes half his chest off. Makes me wonder when he got to the main body if contact with the creature's inside while being eaten made him completely disintegrate on contact 😳

The dialogue is some of the most realistic Ive heard in any horror film. Before they enter the backroom Jim keeps the conversation between him and a very spooked David lighthearted "It was dark, you had a scare! Thats all!" and then as imagined he shits himself when seeing the first tentacle coming through. Then the ever great back forth between David and Norton "then, I guess, the joke would be on me. Afterall". Not to mention my favorite quote made by the well-meaning, mild-mannered Ollie "As human beings we're fundamentally insane" who certainly grabbed that from some obscure philosophy book. Just great writing!
