I noticed Joying doesn't sell a kit anymore, but they've said most of the kits will work. I haven't seen a place to plug in that white connector for this kit, did it work on your head unit?
@ElevatedVehicles22 күн бұрын
It didn't work on the software side because it was to difficult to set up. But the white piece I think plugs into the main mother board. Some people have it, others do not. It was hit or miss if you got the motherboard w/ the connector for the white piece.
@speedjunkie1322 күн бұрын
@ElevatedVehicles ok thank you! I saw a wiring diagram on a website that showed a "host" or motherboard that it plugged into. That makes more sense. I noticed a few weeks ago that the reverse camera options on my Joying shows a 360 option, so I thought I'd look into it. Thanks for the info!

Was thinking of getting one of these joyings for carplay. All the cheaper alternatives look laggy. How does this one hold up? Also would i be able to have it boot straight into carplay or would i have to select the app everytime i turn the car on
@ElevatedVehiclesАй бұрын
For people like me there's no point in carplay when the head unit itself is running Android OS and it's so much more capable than carplay is. The only leg that carplay has to stand on is if you want to receive text messages while driving outside of that the Android operating system on these head units just crushes everything that carplay and Android auto have available. But to answer your question unfortunately I'm not sure I've never tried it.

But I think getting a cheaper head unit would be the way to go if you just wanna run carplay 🙂

None. And I prefer it. It looks so modern floating (in my opinion of course) if you look at my other video you'll see I have a Jeep on 40 inch tires & I take it off road meaning I hit big bumps that are very jarring. On my Jeep Wrangler no. However, I have read on XDA forums that some cars have this function. My opinion, go into the purchase decision saying to yourself that you will NOT have that ability. Then if it turns out it does then great but if it doesn't you're not let down.

I went with the atoto s8 pro and i only went with it because it had optical output, which is FAR BETTER, than using rca outs on any HU when connecting to a DSP. When you turn on the car does it automatically connect to bluetooth/ apple carplay or do you have to connect it manually every time you turn on the car?
@ElevatedVehiclesАй бұрын
Apple car play and android auto are worthless in my opinion. For me at least. Because the headunit IS it's own OS and is FAR MORE capable than car play and android auto. The only use case I could possibly see is if I want to text while driving. But yes it does auto connect to bluetooth. As for auto connect to carplay or android auto, I have no idea.

@ElevatedVehicles I think it was one of your videos you mentioned to be careful with the brightness setting and not going too dim as it would turn the screen black lol. I have a 8.9" unit running Android 12 I just put in and the lowest brightness AND on Dark mode setting STILL is really bright at night in a small car like m5 C5 Corvette. Did you change something to allow a lower brightness setting? I run Apple Carplay and the icon colors and brightness is somewhat distracting a night. Thanks!

Admittedly I never use it the AA or carplay feature. When the headunit is so much more capable than AA I didn't see the point. I guess I could see AA being a priority for those that want to be able to text while driving (through voice) but other than that scenario I find the headunit itself so much more capable.
