It's not really hand push operated, it's electrically opened, the bars are touch sensors. It can be opened by the driver if needed, usually done at the last stop.

@ queensway to replace the ogs and the point was they would die there but it wasn’t supposed to be this early TTC high ups want them gone quicker to rush the zero emissions goal and yes they even had a shortage for awhile where they could hardly make service and still the queensway high ups wouldn’t use their brains and re activate the ogs which would fix the shortage

​@TheOGDieselFinatic They plan to retire all the remaining orions and the 2015 novas next year to meet a strange goal of replacing all of those buses with e-buses. This is due to the fact that last year they recieved enough funding from the federal and municipal governments to do so. A bit of a tangent I have so far is not that they're retiring buses a tad bit early, but the last time this (somewhat) happened was back in the 90s. They were expected to get 600 Orion VI CNGs, but this was cut back to 50 by David L. Gunn. He stated: “If we’d bought those 600 Orion 6s, it would have brought the TTC to its knees. There was huge political pressure to buy them, but the technology wasn’t ready. They weren’t road-tested. They were a disaster." E-buses and electric vehicles in general are still fairly a new concept just like how CNG and low floor buses were basically new back in the 90s. If some problem arises with these e-buses in the future, what the hell is the TTC going to do when at that point they've possibly retired and scrapped their old but still reliable fleet. I'm hoping the TTC doesn't fall into this problem, however considering the TTC's luck with testing out new technologies, (CNG in the 90s and Hybrid-Electric in the 2000s), it's likely not going to end well. (Keep in mind that the current e-buses are different from the ones already on the road since 2019/2020. the new order of e-buses are the "NovaBUS LFSE" and the "New Flyer XE40 NG").
