Once again, i had fun listening to the video (mostly) during the last week's painting. This is a solid release by Battlefront. This makes me look forward to the German and British infantry, Peter mentioned during an interview with the MFA guys. But i guess those will be a year or more until we see those.

I have to disagree with your asessment on the T-64BV vs T-80 situation. I expect that we are going to see more NATO 120mm and against the AT 22/23 it makes a huge difference if you are front armour 20 vs 18. Soviet mid-tier tanks are just in a weird spot where they are too squishy against elites but also don't have enough fire power against hordes - just like NATO engineers intended.

Swiss lists are so broken they hurt my eyes! Top 6 US, Poland, UK, Italy, Denmark, France. The meta is the same as it has been for so long.

I can see reason for most of the changes. Some things went to far, maybe, other things should have been adjusted, also maybe, but overall it is good, that the system is actively monitored. My major issues might be the horrible layout of the pdf including the points changes, inculding the points change might have been useful info, because this is relevant information and that forces is not updated at this point (and if Games Workshop tought me anything, it is that handeling with multiple books and FAQs for points is just horrible). At least you haven't done a tank tier list, that would have been a mess now. Always enjoying Time of Day, keep it coming.

I think the big thing they've failed to reduce the points on, are NATO missile only Helos. How many people take Lynx or PaH with TOW? I don't as they're too expensive for 2 or 4 missile shots, especially as you can't move and fire with them and the Loiter rules (if I understand them right) means that a lot of the time they miss the first turn and arrive on the 2nd and don't fire until the 3rd turn. When you say things like the T-72 and S-103 (S Tank) are bad, that might be right for competitive games but what about themed games? S-tank formations Vs T-72 formations might be a good match up, also Merkavas Vs T-72. I think potentially playing sub-par forces against each other might make for a more fun game.

The USMC box has 2 platoons of infantry with no transports. There's 5 M60's with ERA, 4 LAV-25's, 2 HMMV Tows, 3 M109's and 2 Cobras. The US Bradley starter has 2 infantry platoons, 9 Bradleys, 3 M1's, 3 MLRS, 2 VADS and an M113 Op. The Soviet BMP has 2 infantry platoons, 9 BMP-1/2's, 3 T-80's, 2 BRDM's and 2 Frogfoots.

These points changes are finally letting me feel like Brit armor is more viable lol. I love the challengers and they seem very spicy now

I'm 31, started when I was 20. Most of my local group also started in their late teens early 20s. And we even have some newer players under 30! Woohoo!

It would make a lot of sense for Battlefront to make it easier to run legal ‘normal’ 50 or 60pt lists for a team Yankee to ease people on. Real argument for soviet companies rather than battalions. I suppose you can do it with shock.

The Australian version of the Mk 5 is still available ( as of June 2024) in Resin WITH the auxiliary fuel tank from Battlefront. Centurion (VAN040). Other retailers may be available. OR you could just steal the fuel tank from the resin and attach it to the plastic model.

Following the thought of your Team Yankee version 80s Heavy metal. A nice tank for Sweden might be a Stridsvagn 2000, i am aware, it was never built, but we could assume, it would have been with the threat of the Soviet Union still being active. This (subjectively) would be much more interesting, than adding the Leo 2 (in any form) to Sweden. Of course they are not the only nation, that would need a more sophisticated tank for other nations, but Sweden is the only one, that actually was in an early development cycle. On other new, since i started 3d printing last year, my concept of an Austrian Team Yankee is taking form. I've found the rarer stuff like Sk-105s, Saurer APCs and the typical Steyr-Puch lorries, which i have put some work into, to make them printable at the Team Yankee scale. The other stuff is somewhat more boring M60 A1-A3, M47s, M109s, but now im working on getting a basic fortification list going, so i'm researchnig and building the turret emplacements (M24, M47, Centurion, Charioteer) and testing how the can be fun ingame.

they took Managascar from the Vichy French, i believe they talked about it in the old burning empires book along with the Syrian campaign where you could have French Foreign legion on both sides

I've always fancied doing large Flames of War games with just tanks, for club nights. I think it would be a good way of teaching the basics of FoW based games and let's face it, most people are interested in these for the tanks. I was thinking of masses of KV's and T-34's vs the Germans in 43 - using Fortress Europe points. Maybe as you say, it would work with the missions from CoS

I think that American tank was used by the USMC.

Definitely think the set will be Bradley based for the US, it’s a shame there’s no mechanised infantry in the armoured cav otherwise it would perfectly tie in with the big US box. Soviet side I wouldn’t be surprised to see battlefront use the BMP-3, they are quite fond of using that. Though they could use BMP1/2 with T-64(BV) which could make an ambiguous Warsaw pact force as well.

The only thing I would have added is the dollar value of each set with respect the points one can get out of it. The 2 unit sprue units will make that hard to calculate though

Great Video! Agree many of the mid war boxes can be used for late war and the opposite is true for some of the late war boxes such as the T34 box!! I would consider using the Kasserine box for East Front!

I'm not a big fan of EW but intruiged to see what BF do and the same for the Pacific theatre. I still can't understand why they haven't done any MW/LW Italian theatre publications. A new Oil Wars book would be great, as would a Merkava 3 kit, although I suspect a Merkava 3 formation could be quite difficult to run, given the points costs of top tier tanks. Would love to see them get upgraded AT missiles and a few other new toys. Have you guys got the new World of Tanks miniatures game starter? There's a sheet showing the forthcoming expansions and I'm sure there's an M48 on there, which would be nice for FoaN.

Personally I've had a lot of success with Foxes, but then I run 12 of them, as Michael says. Vs East Germans and other BTR small hordes they've served me quite well, and I haven't really needed to rely on them following orders.

While I think, that the army book episodes are better, I still like this topic and I have some more episodes to look forward to: transports, artillery & AA , light tanks & tank hunters, with the final episode being main battle tanks. You could still talk about the older books, maybe how they aged in comparison and where they are lacking, today.
