If you have a bachelors degree can you.start as E4?.
@treasurita Жыл бұрын
If you have a bachelors, I would look into going officer rather than enlisted. But now a days they have many ways to promote to E-4 very fast. And a bachelors will count towards your advancement exam but that alone wont get you advanced to E-4.

(22 years Army) Understand that her left hand is taking money in and her right hand is giving it out. If you eat out rather than at the mess hall, or pay rent off-base rather than live in the barracks, you will spend every dime the military gave you for food and rent - and then some. This is her choice; it is neither good or bad . But the title of the video makes it seem as if she found a way to get extra take-home pay and that is NOT what happens. She is very disciplined with her money; she has my respect. But there is a reason the military doesn't like E-4 and below to live off base. In my experience, anyone less than pay-grade Enlisted-5 (and sometimes higher) who lives off-base is broke every month. What she doesn't make clear is she is stationed in Japan, with an excellent public transportation system. If you serve in the States, you will need a car to get to base (money borrowed at a super-high interest rate), and insurance, and taxes, and maintenance, and fees... And remember, if you have ANY debt while in the military, you can't walk away from it. They will contact your C.O. and the military will take it out of your pay. You have no idea how many cars are re-possessed because an enlisted person was transferred and couldn't sell their car in time (or their expensive electronics the military won't ship because junior enlisted get practically no baggage allowance). Suck it up; live on base; eat at the mess hall. Save your money and come home with a nest egg for the future. And DON'T GET MARRIED!! There is a very old joke, "If the Army thought you needed a wife, it would issue you one." Anyone less than an E-6, with a wife and kid, needs food stamps. If, before going in, you know you are a "lifer" then you can get married early in life. If not, wait until you get home and can use what you learned in the military or your veteran status to get a good civilian job before you get married. $2,000 per month is a LOT if you are single and the government is providing you with food, clothing, housing, and medical insurance; you should be able to save $1,000 per month ($48,000 in four years). It is nothing if you are married and your wife can't find work, or the only off-base jobs are part-time, low-pay. I wish all of you the best!

Anybody reading this comment ^ that just joined the military this is a PERFECT EXAMPLE of what a toxic,hating,un educated, scared to go the civilian life without the help of uncle sam, in the military is like (you will encounter SO MANY of these) there is a reason he stayed in 22 years. Don’t listen to this guy. Hes upset this E3 is making more than he was at E3. Do JUST ENOUGH years to use your Tuition assistance to get some school done while you’re active duty so you dont touch ur GI Bill and use your VA Loan while you are active (you will have an asset,that will make you money later) Try to get some school done (at least ur associates degree) and then get out and use that GI bill (it will pay for your living expenses and ur classes) and get yourself a degree you can have in your back pocket that will secure you a job. While you are in school,take that time to create a business. Start a business with friends or independently and take your shot at life. There is not 1 job in this country that will make you RICH. Only a business will make you rich. Get out of the mindset of working for others you become the boss!! The military is a GREAT stepping stool,use the company you are in (all branches) how they use you! Play your cards right! Stay hard!

(Edit) just to add alot of the stuff this 22 year army vet said was true BUT it’s the 80% of the E4 and below that be doing that dumb shit. Be that other 20%. Don’t let negativity overwhelm ur dreams (you will have so many E5 and above that been in 10+ years tell you that you can’t make it in the real world)

@vicenteespinoza72692 жыл бұрын
thats impossible. my wife claims my son as her dependent and only gets an extra $100. also if you use the military pay app, go under “allowances” and click dependents it will only be a $100 pay increase. also it does not go up the more kids you have. if you are receiving $1400 nontaxable money a month i suggest getting in contact with your local base finance because your pay is fucked.

Also do you think is it better to stay off base ? Does it help to save more money or what ?? I'm married but my wife is not living with me and I have a kid. How do you think I can plan to save more money ? Waiting for your advice. Thank you
@harveyrosas72083 жыл бұрын
You only get BAH if you're living off base. If you're living in the base (dorms) you don't get BAH at all. If you live off base and group with other members you can all save more money because you all put less into a bigger house. If you're married you automatically get paid more BAH (I think is like $300USD more but not sure) but idk how it'll work since your wife and kid won't be there with you so ask for your personal situation
