Just got a new KLR ADV and love it. Coming from enduro's, I always liked the DR and XR just wanted wind protection this time. We know why they cant update the carb, and thats a bonus for traditional riders. But I think if Suzuki made an factory ADV package like the KLR, with rally fairing, windscreen, luggage cheaper it'd be a hit cuz of that motor

Hey man - Thanks for watching LOL !!! - Just re-watched it before commenting - This is a terrible video haha... Typical for me I guess. And BTW - Years ago I was not a KLR fan, but have since changed my tune. A buddy of mine has (or had) at least 3 - and he loves them. They're a bit bigger than the DR - But "bullet proof" as well.... If you ever watch my "best dual sport on the planet" (or whatever it's called) forgive me for my "ugly" KLR thoughts !!!! Cheers !!!!

Just tried using this and I must have a defective glue or stubs… I cleaned with the supplied release agent, even cleaned with alcohol, put a huge globe on and it would not pull my dent , no where close to what you did… left it on for 10 minutes even and would come right off with the slightest bit of screwing on the bar… maybe my dent is just not able to be pulled with this but thought mine wasn’t even as bad as yours lol, the small one hardly held at all the bigger round disc held a little better but I tried an entire stick and a half and maybe 15 times and don’t see a difference in the dent

Overall I wasn't impressed with the kit. I didn't use the magnetic bolt, in fact, I sheared it (didn't read, silly me for thinking it would be a load bearing bolt as originally engineered by Suzuki). Ended up epoxying to the rotor. Doesn't sit well with me that they would replace a load bearing high torque bolt with basically nothing... Had a hell of a time with it before finally gluing it. Oh, and no plug for the Speedo worm gear hole? Sheesh.

I've owned 2 dr650's in my life.ive put a total of about 100,000 km on them. The first thing I did was put in a carburetor JET kit to let it breathe easier and the power increase was huge, but fuel milage went down of course. Next I put on a braided steel front brake hose which gave the front brake way more bite and much better modulation(feel) WHATEVER YOU DO ONLY USE GENUINE SUZUKI BRAKE PADS ON THE FRONT DONT USE AFTERMARKET BRAKE PADS TO INCREASE STOPPING POWER, AFTERMARKET BRAKE PADS WILL EAT UP YOUR FRONT DISK

I think I want one. I have a KLX 250 now which I love off road, it is light and the suspension is great. But it lacks jam and is not good at highway speeds. The DR 650 is only 30 lbs heavier but has near twice the torque and horsepower. The KLR 650 on the other hand is way heavier, which off road is a real problem. Of course there is always the KTM 500 exc-f or the CRF450L, but those are a whole different class of bikes in terms of cost and maintenance. And exhausting to ride. And really tall.

Thanks so much for watching - obviously, I am way behind on my emails. Like I tell everybody - do as much research as you can - The "Aussies" sold me, as it is the PREMIER DUAL SPORT in the "outback" - and I have been riding a long freakin time !!! It is the best bike I have ever owned. Reading your comment - I'd like to also mention the Honda XR 650 - But even at 6'1" - I can barely get one foot on the ground - they are really tall too - but still an awesome bike. definitely an 80/20 bike... More for off road... If you have the chance to visit a dealership (at least here) sit on several models, and the choice becomes very clear. THE MIGHTY SUZUKI DR 650 is just an awesome "basic" motorcycle - and easy to work on too !!!! Cheers and good luck on this journey - if you lived near me, you could take mine for a spin !!!!

You started turning the knob farther and quicker than you did on the previous times, even though you didn't ever do 1/8" turns. That might be why it took off the decal and paint. Before you were slow and 1/8" turns. Last one you turned it faster and 1/2" or more turns. Good video.

Yea mate it’s not so mighty , I’ve replaced dozens of rockers & cams on these things because of the terrible engineering where the camshaft runs directly on the cylinder head without bearings , worse case scenarios was sending the heads sent out to engineering shops to get bearing shells that they should have had in the first place.

Sorry, but I'm not going to be too much help. There are just too many variables. I tried every jet & every needle setting until I hit the sweet spot. I will say this - Many things are "dependent" - Where you live, the elevation, etc. You are going to get very familiar with your carb. Start where you said - and take notes !!! - then take the needle up a notch, then down, etc.... It just takes time and experimenting. Unless you pay a shop to do it.
