Helpful video. Thanks. How did you wire it to the speedo light? Did you put a fuse on it? I’m all thumbs with electrical stuff. Thanks
@pilotdane1Ай бұрын
No fuse - that's a simple "+ / -" connection. You can't screw it up. Too many years ago - But probably clipped off the light. Split the wires, then "stripped" off the plastic ( maybe 1/2 an inch, them connected them to the Trail Tech with a "crimp" type connector - and then "shrink wrapped" it with the black tubing... Super simple !!!! - I may have filmed it, but the video was long enough !!! - Too long actually, but thanks for watching. FWIW - mine still works flawlessly to this day !!!! - Make sure you put "shrink wrap tubing" on before you connect it & crimp it - then slide it into place and hit it with a match or a lighter - only takes a few seconds - and it's water proof !!!! Cheers Mate !!!

Mainly because of the heat. That said, and I know you'll know what I'm talking about, the bike is simply much more stable and secure - and front end "dive" is nothing compared to the stock suspension. I (personally) find myself riding faster than normal because it's not so "squishy" - more "solid"... I only spent about 2 hours in the desert this last Saturday, and not too terrible stuff, but rocks, sand, washboards, etc. - totally different bike.... it just wants to bite / hold the road - no matter what you are riding on !!!! - Sorry for the "long winded" reply - But I appreciate you man - and please feel free to contact me any time !!!!

It’s been a couple of years since I put the FFRC shock piston in mine but I don’t remember having any trouble getting the main nut back on flush. Maybe I just went ahead and got rid of those three thin washers. To refill the shock bladder I just made a homemade fitting to adapt the syringe needle to my high pressure bicycle pump. Not sure if you put a stiffer rear spring on yours in the past but for a guy your size I would recommend going back to the stock spring with the new valving. I weigh 230lbs and it’s plenty stiff with 7.5 rear spring that is only slightly stiffer than stock. Same goes for the front springs if you bought their valves for the forks as well.
@pilotdane12 ай бұрын
Dude, that's awesome - and I bought a syringe kit with the schrader valve just in case - but as you can see, I also ordered the older style reservoir cap with the valve. I have the stock springs front & rear and it's a 1000% stiffer - I personally can't see needing the heavier springs - But someone better than me - might. And ya, we did front and rear !!!! - Totally different bike !!!!

Good to see you back Obi - Wan. I did my shock a couple of years ago when I got my new FFRC piston assembly for the rear shock. When I did mine I just let the nitrogen out with a syringe needle and then I made a custom adapter to go from the syringe needle to a schrader valve. Then I pumped the bladder back up to 165psi with a bicycle suspension pump after the shock was reassembled. The whole job was under $300 and it totally transformed the shock.

Great vid, man. Question, what mount did you use? I currently have the protective case/mount for my Vapor that goes in the pinch bolts but it blocks the ignition switch. Are you, by chance, using the mounts that are described as going in the triple clamps on KTMs? Item # 022-OEB or 022-SO? Thanks, Sean
@seansterr72363 ай бұрын
But you tighten them in where the old stock speedo mount goes?
@pilotdane13 ай бұрын
This is going to be a pathetic reply - I used the mount it came with and I believe I bolted it right where the old speedo mounted - with the supplied allen bolts / screws. No KTM stuff at all - it bolted onto the triple clamps where the old speedo was mounted. I made some small adjustments to get it to slide to the right - maybe an 1/8th of an inch but it helped. Mine is still going strong after (probably) 4 years now. Only had to replace the battery once. Very happy with it "FWIW"..... If I can be of more assistance, do not hesitate to contact me.
