Interesting ring grip. Like on paralettes. I thought semi turned out is the most stable while not being as hard as fully supinated. I can barely do tuck on rings lol.

This is exactly what I was hoping would eventually happen. You are starting to look like a gymnast my guy. The craving to do harder skills has kept you from doing harder skills. improving the basics will allow you to add to them. That's the truth behind difficulty. The only thing that still worries me is the tumbling technique. Technique is different from form, so it's not an issue of cleaning it up, it's an issue that the current technique you're using can't turn into harder tumbling. This happens to people who learn tumbling later in life and try to skip essential basics. The basic problems show in your front full and back full twist. You haven't mastered layouts and you don't use the right twisting technique. The twist should be initiated through the flipping action known as a tilt twist. Here is a youtube reference to tilt twisting to help you during practice. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGXEo2SQot9_ptU

It was so close to what I'd call perfect! But yeah the front full wasn't consistent the day before, I was too slow to adapt to the different floor 😕 For some reason it seems to more I train front full the worse it gets. I start twisting earlier and earlier. Just need to train it more until it's consistent I guess

I want to start training this but I wanted to ask if this is harmful to the health of my shoulders
@LachFlex7 ай бұрын
Stretching is important and we could all use more of it. This is one way to stretch, and as you get more mobile you can pass deeper into it. Progress gradually, and work on shoulder mobility in all different positions (flexion, extension, internal rotation, external rotation). Build the strength too and you will have healthy shoulders :)

Yeah but I mean you started gymnastics as an adult. Super different to starting it as a child - I feel like the physio saying he's "surprised" is really weird tbh....

Lachlan my man, the form isn't something that slowly gets better with practice. You need to make habits, and squeeze so hard your legs and inner thighs cramp during skills. I would aim for like 3-5 cramps a week. As for performing better at practice then at meets I always tell my students that they can live with falling if they were going for a perfect routine. But going for a "no fall" routine means that even when you hit you still lose. So go for big and perfect, and even if this only hits 20% of the time, you will win a lot more often, and be way more proud of your performances overall. Overtime the 20% will increase as you get more consistent at practice. Good luck man, I'm here for it as long as your willing to keep fighting!

How can u slow inlocate on rings with that mobility?
@LachFlex9 ай бұрын
That's a good question. I guess I can because I trained that movement specifically. I feel like I really developed scapular mobility working that skill. But as you can see my shoulders drastically lack mobility in some areas. I'll be focused on improving this all in general. Will be exciting to see the effect it has on my gymnastics! I might share with you guys my favorite stretches as I make progress
