I have been thinking of a Canada rail trip, thanks for the video and hope to continue watching. I don’t want to be a fraidy cat, but after watching a lot of Caribbean sailing and boating, i think chartering 2 - 4 times a year is probably more my speed. Seriously not afraid of the sea, but of the hassle’s involved. I know there are pros and con’s to each side, but just my two cents worth

Need you back in the water to feel the breeze, smell the sea, and be giddy with joy of jumping into the ocean. Trains are nice but boating makes you feel alive and young. You’ve said it many times, “You don’t want to regret it” while you’re still physically fit to be in the water

G'day Alan from New Zealand . My wife and I have watched your Wandering Hillbilly adventures, wonderful viewing. We have an Aquila 44 down here and you are so right she is our "baby". I'd like to hear why your insurance company declined to pay, Do you not have an ombudsman or the like in the US where you can lodge a complaint against the broker and the company as we do here. I get the antiquated maritime law and I doubt it will change anytime soon. I also get why you threw them the keys, not easy to let go of your baby. All the best to you and your wife recharging your life batteries after being ground down by those scum. Get back in the saddle one day if the spirit moves you..If you ever decide to come to New Zealand Iets have a cleansing rum and a cigar in the cockpit and I'll show you around our remote waters and Islands.

careful w/ that thing. That brand has the reputation as the "bayliner" of the big boat industry... Great vids. Enjoy the trip.

I've been re-watching your videos from the BVI etal and I must say I really miss not seeing any new videos of your exploits and it brings a tear to my eye knowing what has happened to your beautiful yacht. And the drone videos of the Hillbilly cruising down the ICW were particularly magical. I hope you will be back on a boat in the BVI's very soon. All the best to you and your family.

Thank you for a clean and competent explanation of your experience. If you can, a good read, see Farley Mowat "Grey Seas Under" fictional tale of salvage tug in Novia Scotia. I don't pretend anything will eliminate this experience, but worth a try to regulate and reframe your bereavement. My background, only a boat repair guy, but just the vibe I got watching this video. FWIW, 18 months for unexpected loss. source author John Bradshaw .
@stephtraveler737817 күн бұрын
sad. but let it go. Aquila is s "discount' brand. Its the "Bayliner" of the large vessel industry. All boats should be able to support its weight when resting on their keel. The Aquila driveshaft tower (the effective keel on a power boat) caved in. Those hulls are paper thin in relative terms.
@stephtraveler737817 күн бұрын
If the strut tower (drive shaft towers) can't withhold the weight of the vessel, you need to sue the boat maker, Aquila. The drive shaft towers are your effective keel on a power boat. Yours caved in. They owe you a hull.

Hey Alan, Let me get all of the usual and what I'm sure you've grown to expect compliments out of the way. GREAT CHANNEL, you're a great embassdor for this lifestyle and you're correct you are the Wandering Hillbilly and not the boat. I chose this year old video to make my introductions because my wife Melissa and I can relate to the "lost in translation" when ordering provisions comment. Melissa thought she was ordering 40 4-packs of Trulys on our inaugural provisioning a year ago only to be greeted at the dock with a pallets of 40 cases of Trulys...yes everywhere you looked you could find some of the 960 cans. We joked that the next owner would be finding them for years to come and now we're selling her to move to a power cat and I'm positive this will hold true. Take care buddy!
