Very instructional video, but I'm confused why you keep using the Swell "Celeste" as an 8' foundation stop with other harmonics. Isn't it supposed to be primarily used in combination with the gamba (or other string-like stops) for a special undulatory effect in the sound?

Comment Regarding Virtual vs. Real Playing: Having been playing guitar, bass & keyboard for over 30 years, in and out of cover bands for 20 of them, and dabbling in MIDI sequencing for about the same, I had written & recorded exactly ONE original song along the way. After discovering ISW along with realistic-sounding drum sample libraries, I have composed over 55 original songs over the last five years (and almost all of them have several instances of Shreddage). Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but don't call something "crap" or "garbage" just because it doesn't suite your needs (or perhaps due to your own insecurities as a live player?). And why doesn't anyone ever mention how beautifully these products work with people with disabilities? The good news: They aren't going away and will only keep getting better!

Thanks for this video, very informative and helpful. I'm a user and big fan of Shreddage 3 Hydra and Abyss, have used these virtual instruments to produce a full album and believe me this stuff sounds as good as if not better than a real guitarist/bass player. Currently using it as way of writing demos for my live band. Really effective and powerful software all round. I have to commend you guys as the Shreddage series alone is phenomenonal. Keep up the great work.

ISW vst are the best instruments I could used. It is a real pleasure to play a guitar in such an easy way as these instruments allow. I think there would only be one generic type of instrument missing that could be feasible since all guitars are the same: a strum designer using any other guitar, and fully customizable via a midi file.

The problem with "better than Kontakt" is that it depends on the audience you're talking to. I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone that owns and uses Falcon / UVI Workstation that thinks its sampler isn't better than Kontakt in 100% of cases as a user, but it may not provide a feature set that would make it a more attractive or even usable option for sample library makers. I would love to hear at some point what the gaps are in the LUA scripting engine that it offers that would prevent some of the more simple IS libraries to be ported over. I'm a Komplete CE user, and I STILL refuse to install Kontakt if I can get away with it.

I use Shreddage 3 for composing away from my guitar and bass, and also for roughing out demos before wasting my time learning a guitar part lol. I've been using it since the OG Shreddage. I HATE FOMO MARKETING, so yeah, thank you indeed. in-fact, I just took a peek and the price you're offering for the Doom bundle is actually crazy lol (in a good way). People wanting it cheaper, I don't think many people understand the sheer amount of work it takes make a sample library like Shreddage or really any instrument library meant to do a non-MIDI instrument. Samples, samples, sampling, so many samples, so much sample editing, ALL THE SAMPLING AND EDITING. It's absolutely insane, and then you have to program the sampler itself to make it all play convincingly. Anyway, I digress, thanks for sharing lol. I AM now wondering how feasible it'd be to sell libraries for another ready-made sampler engine like HALion or UVI? All 3 use Lua, iirc, but I have absolutely no idea on API stuff regarding using Lua and the deeper end of that.

Hey Andrew, great video! I have one question though: When writing harmonized guitars with Hydra, how do I avoid phasing? It seems to me that whenever I am running two instances of Hydra (both in separate Kontakts) which both play identical notes on the low E string but harmonized accents on all the higher strings I always get some minor phasing problems. I have tried turning repetition on and off, different guitar combinations (using different 1-4 guitars included, that is) and similar, but I never get rid of the phasing completely. What would you suggest? I think I cannot run both guitars in a single Kontakt instance and feed my instruments the exact same MIDI data, as unfortunately this will make it impossible for me to write harmonized parts PS: Completely off topic, but I think you replied to me in the past telling me how to get rid of some of the attack in the Hydra samples, while simultaneously telling me that you personally find attack to usually lack in guitar VSTis rather than be in excess. I have to say that you were totally right: attack was not my problem. Instead, I simply made the phrasing a bit more guitarist-like (different fretting, articulations etc.) and the results were immediately better!
@dagtastik6 күн бұрын
Hey there, take a look at your DAW and see if you can "Invert Phase" on one of the channels/instances. I use Reason and at the very top of the channel strip, there's a button labeled "Invert" which does exactly that. Hope that helps!
@_x_m_m_69766 күн бұрын
@@dagtastik Hey thanks for the advice! However, I have to say that simply inverting the phase won't cut it unfortunately. Most of the playing is in phase - it is not perfectly identical but it doesn't cancel out either, and hence the playback generally sounds wide and has no phasing issues. I only ocassionaly get samples that are clearly phasing

@@_x_m_m_6976 Bummer! Was hoping there was a quick fix for you.
@Tremendouz6 күн бұрын
A couple of ways: 1) You could try the good ol' transpose trick. Use kontakt's tuning knob to pitch one of the guitars up or down some 2-3 semitones (or -2 and +1 or so). Then transpose the MIDI to compensate. This ensures that left and right guitars will be playing different samples even if you break the round robin cycle sync between the guitars by writing different parts for each. This approach would probably require you to disable anti-repetition because that borrows samples of neighboring pitches, so 2-3 semitone difference might not be enough to avoid the same sample being duplicated 2) double track everything normally but add separate kontakt instances that play just the notes that are harmonized. That way the doubled parts act as they should, and the harmonized parts will of course be phasing-free because they're playing different notes 3) use completely different guitar libraries for left and right. Might sound weird and asymmetrical

Thank you for this video. I just recently purchased the top tier 88 keyboard and ultimate. The order was stuck in processing for over two weeks. I emailed them and requested that they refund my expedited shipping that I paid for. When they sent the unit out, the top of the box was sealed, but the bottom had already been cut open. Someone used the unit, and then placed it back in the box and taped it with two strips of packing tape. The protective film over the glass was missing, left hand corner of the unit was worn down, the feet underneath the keyboard also were worn. I took pictures and emailed them all of this.Their customer service is HORRIBLE. I have received multiple ticket numbers and right now. I am counting down for 30 days if they do not resolve my issue I will elevate the situation. Once again thank you and I really appreciate your video

I can't believe that the "finishing installation" process took an hour and a half on my USB 3.2 external SSD. This is the worst installer I have ever seen. And after updating from ver 1.0 to ver 2.0, you cannot only delete ver 1.0. You must uninstall the entire software first and then download it again. Do you know that not everyone has high-speed Internet access? I will never buy from this company again.
@ImpactSoundworksLLC11 күн бұрын
Hey there, apologies for the difficulty. Regarding the installation time - this is because there are over 200gb of compressed samples, and it simply takes awhile to uncompress that much data. The vast majority of our libraries are much, much smaller and will uncompress much faster. Also, you absolutely can delete the TSS1 content. If you are having trouble with this please reach out to our support and we can walk you through it.
@flamewood9811 күн бұрын
The installation took half an hour, and the "finishing installation" process took an hour and a half, a total of two hours. Why did the "finishing installation" process of deleting temporary files take longer than the installation? Is there a problem with the programming? You should first do a good job of training your employees. The information about deleting the entire software and reinstalling it comes from the customer support staff: Mr. Häthén. So, if I can delete only TSS 1.0 after updating to TSS 2.0 (1.0 and 2.0 are in the same folder), which files in the TSS folder can I delete safely?

The round robins suck for short sustain. I hear only 2 per velocity level.
@ImpactSoundworksLLC14 күн бұрын
There are 4x down and 4x up per velocity for the core sustain, then another 4x down and 4x up for the 'short sustain', and you can triple all of this with Anti-Repetition mode. You may just be hearing the alternating between down/up pick; this can of course be disabled or automated if you prefer!

Hi! Quick question: I bought the library for my fl studuo, but unfortunately the lookahead delay compensation plugin won't work for me. In the video you used fl studio as well and it seems you are able to make it work with fl studio. Mind if I ask how you did it?
@rrr584523 күн бұрын
They didnt fix anything. They just cut the delay and put the audio in sync with the visual playback in post production. The audio is still off sync in the plugin window. Saying it is one of the best features of tokyo scoring strings, one of the main selling points and then advertising the library using a semi unsupported daw, that doesnt fully support that major feature while making it seem like it does.
