If you are talking about the intake restriction from PDI. It snaps off the back fire screen and you remove this completely.

Yes, the bike is the most YZ it's ever been. If you are A grade, and Motocross is all you do then a YZ is obviously a better choice.

Interesting I also have a KTM890R adventure. I've now sold the Yamaha WR450 and gone back to a 2017 KTM300EXC Six day bike. I've been planning to make some more videos but haven't had time. The Yamaha is a great bike. However, for the sort of riding I do the two stroke suits me better. I like hardcore single track and slower more technical riding. As flexible as the WR is with the power tuner. It's still no two stroke.

Hi there, Absolutely not. This is not a beginner bike at all. Might I suggest the 250 WR or FX instead. Any 450 will punish in inexperienced hands.

USA regs alot different to here in NZ. You would need alot of mods and an uncorked ECU. If not street legal don't stress. Just uncork the WR as I did. If you are running on the road that changes things.

Hey mate, as much as I love the Yamaha I have to say for duel sport KTM 500 all the way. Extra 50cc on the road is nice and the 6 speed gear box. Plus easier to fit larger gas tank on the KTM. Off road out the box, Yamaha all the way. It's an impressive package.

@@twowheelpilot I saw the ktm 500, looks lower quality compared to the honda and yamaha. Does it come with map switch in NZ?

@@twowheelpilot The Honda is too heavy I think, but probably vibrates less and as better suspension than the other 2?

Yamaha power tuner is a game changer. Is great to be able to make the bike what you want. Richer, leaner, andvanced or retarded all with a smart phone. This and the more WR make for one very versatile ride.

​@@blackvignu62I finally got a CCU and installed a map provided on Yamaha website (smooth linear power). On very rare occasions on deccel I get very small popping. But even without the CCU and the map in practice no backfire at all.

Mine doesn’t go onto the header as much as the stock wr exhaust?

To be honest I didn't measure but it was a perfect fit for me, no leak at the junction of the pipe & header.

Never thought about it. My firend does a fair bit of 3D printing but physical panel side would be an issue unless you have really large commercial machines.

Hi Richard, I don't mind the induction noise either however lots seem to moan about it. It's not totally gone with the YZ450F/FX pipe however is considerably quieter. The difference is very noticeable.

Hey Richard, No four stroke will ever lug like a two stroke which is almost diesel like with regards to stalling. However the WR is pretty dam good. Load the right fuel and ignition timing into it and it's better than any other modern four stroke I've owned with EFI. I'll try and get a video up loaded of me in the yard with it lugging around with no clutch at all.

@@twowheelpilot Thanks for the info. I have a 2020 wr 250f and love it. Plenty of power and very snappy, picks up revs in an almost 2 stroke like fashion. Only problem is that it can stall pretty easily in the real tight stuff. I've played with the mapping and it's certainly a great feature but I think the light flywheel and cam timing is probably the real issue. I had a 2019 250fx and it lugged really well but they changed things on the 2019 yz 250f and that was carried through to the 2020 wr250f. I realise the 2 strokes have the advantage due simply to the fact they are firing twice as often but they run out of puff pretty quick too. Looking forward to seeing you do some technical stuff. No idea sorry. No rev counter on a competition Enduro bike.

Load the right fuel map and alot of that goes away. Mine will lug on a part throttle with no clutch now.

Guess it's all down to cost. However I've seen plenty of KTM's with painted flexible plastics peeling. My own 990 did that. In fact I've taken a look at a friends 1290 and that has decals instead of paint with it's semi flexible plastics. I guess that's why KTM stopped painting their ADV bikes. I hear what you are saying about decals however my comment stands regarding paint and non flexible plastics. Show room appeal helps sell bikes and paint does look great even if it's not a very practical application on a adventure bike.
